Been noticing these ads during games and other times. Interesting to watch though I assume just PR of "here's what UP is doing for the economy."

A sample of one of Union Pacific's TV ads.......
Union Pacific is also a named sponsor of Mike Rowe's new show "Somebody's Gotta Do It" on CNN.
On a more general note, why the sudden uptick in advertising from the big railroads? For a while, CSX was spamming the airwaves, now it's UP, and NS seems to be getting into the game...
I don't know why the uptick, but I do appreciate all of railroad commercials. My thought on that - any air time promoting the railroads is much better than most of the other spam, particularly in election season... The GE commercials are also nice to see.
Haven't seen any CN/CP commercials yet: wonder why...
Thanks for sharing this video, and love the ad
UP stock is also doing very well!
Thank you, I also like seeing the commercials.
All railroad ads are puff pieces, a total waste of money. If spending big dollars for air time, why don't railroads advertise their service? What is the point of these ads? Their stocks are doing marvelously without such ads. But I DO enjoy them - an indication that railroads are finally enjoying their proper place in our economy and national consciousness.
All railroad ads are puff pieces,
That's the point.
Project a positive image.
An image that railroads do much more than just get in your way when you're in a hurry, nail cars, trucks and pedestrians along the right-of-way or have oil trains blowing up every five minutes.

Having a good reputation with the public is important in so many ways. I bet the uptick has to do with wanting to move more coal and oil than ever before through various corridors without the public pushing back about noise, dust, and explosion fears. At least thats what's in the news a lot in the Pacific Northwest.
Personally I think the NS ads are the best. Although the new one seems to be more like the CSX and UP.
