It's been a month since we started work on a Baltimore Tradition. Our 35th Annual Christmas Train Garden as it is called here, is the largest train display in a fire station at almost 1000 sq. ft. We have just a little more then a week to get done since we will open it to the public the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
It has been a challenge for us this year since our workforce has been dwindling over the years. Yet we have still managed to get it done. Myself I have been putting many more hours then what I can imagine. And this is my 1st. year back after a 10 year layoff since the 25th. year was my last. And to think that I started this tradition using my own trains and animations 35 years ago. This past week I have been getting home anywhere from 4 to 5 am each morning after about 10 hours a night (ain't retired life just great).
I have been wanting to post photos of it going up but finding the time to do so has been hard so here are some photos that I took Tuesday morning.
The layout is 22' x 44', 5 levels, 13 trains & 2 trolleys on their own loops, 1 train is Standard gauge, 1 you can't see and about 250 animated items.
Also a first in these photos is I'm giving you a look as I see it, as I am standing it the middle of it.
One of my trademarks is that the display will again have a real water waterfalls that is about 20' long, the last one was about 5 years ago.
As seen below is the real water lake in the upper right hand corner, the brown part is part of the fake water parts the train that you will not see is the one below
