Variable Channel DCS Help Needed | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have 3 independent loops on my layout - 2 of which are hooked up to the "Fixed" channels of my TIU (both work fine running Proto 2 engines). I hooked up a 3rd independent loop to the "Variable 1" channel of the TIU. I can run conventional engines on this track with no problem. I thought I could run Proto 2 engines on this channel also. I am having difficulty figuring out the process that would enable me to run Proto 2 engines. Any help would be appreciated.

I did purchase Barry's book but couldn't find any reference to this.

First park your conventional engines on toggled off siding or take them off the track, Scroll up the voltage on the var channel. Now use the ENG key and select the proto-2 engine you want to run in command mode. I'm assuming you have a good dcs signal on the var channel.

You will need to turn on the DCS signal to the variable output.
