So what is the problem with the sound boards on the new Lionel VL 1931280 (3717)? Do they all have the problem? Something to do with the chuffing effect? Are all other sounds ok? Is it worth sending in to have it fixed? Thanks, Bobby

The VL Challengers shipped without articulated sound sets, they had non-articulated chuff sounds.
So there is just one chuff instead of chuff/chuff? Is that real obvious to a listener that wouldn’t know what it was suppose to sound like? Guess it would have to go back to Lionel to be fixed? Is Lionel doing the repair at no charge? Guess the sender would have to pay postage one way? I guess the smoke comes out of the stacks in an alternating pattern but there is only one sound? Sorry for the dumb questions but would like to buy one if it is not too big a deal.
JFC454 posted a thread with video of the Challenger after it had come back from Lionel with "articulated" chuff. The title of the thread is:
