Its referred to as the "Scranton " bigboy because the real 4012 resides at Steamtown, in Scranton Pennsylvania. 4012 still wears Union Pacific on the tender.
The "nicknames" given the VL bigboys refers to where the surviviors are currently located.
I have the 4018, the tender has Union Pacific, I thought it would have "Frisco"

All the Big Boy Tenders are Lettered Union Pacific.
OH BOY!!
Thank you for your quick responses.
Yeech! I thought it would say Scranton. Oh well now I will try to coax this monster around my curves.
Thanks for the response, I'm still trying to get mine to run I will make, IMHO this is an awesome engine and I am glad to have one.

4012 with fresh paint, 2010
Before paint.
I think if Lionel put "Scranton Pacific" on the tender of 4012 you would see a few forum members have nervous breakdowns.

With all of the.... topics that have come up lately, who can tell any more?
I hear Miller Engineering is working on signs for the sides of the tenders. They spell out UNION PACIFIC in big white letters and then the display site.
Maybe if it was painted in SP Daylight colors, and lettered for SOUTHERN PACIFIC, I'ld be slightly interested.
oh can I get one lettered for .....

Good point.
It's no problem to repaint it, who will be the first to have a custom paint job on their $2,000 locomotive?
I was thinking Lee also...maybe paint it up in the Blue Goose scheme???
