As of 4:35 Pm ET, I am still sitting stock still between Elyria and Sandusky, OH on Amtrak #49. At least it is on PV Mt. Vernon, and not in coach. and, we have wi-fi. OH, here we are starting to move!  6 freights in a row have gone past in the opposite direction, with one track out of service ahead. I've seen a lot of freight trains today. Here's a few of them.

Mill City: That is indeed us.

Boxcar Bill: Got plenty aboard, but would have been good to see you.

Here we are now in Toledo, front and rear.

Elliot: Will keep you posted on which day(s) we will be there. We are supposed to go to Chicago on #29 early tomorrow morning, but it is not at all clear that we would make 7 the same day. If not, Wednesday would be our ONLY day in the Twin Cities. Will keep you posted by email or phone as I know more.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Bill, but I'm going to stop short of holding my breath. A bit of good news, Wednesday I'm totally free. My appointment is Monday. I read the calendar wrong.

Even if you arrive in Chicago in the wee hours, you should still be able to connect to the Builder, since it doesn't leave until early afternoon. In my mind, a deliberate decision to layover a full day in Chicago, would call into question the value of continuing on to the Twin Cities at all. While the westbound trip on the CP should run closer to on time, the return to Chicago could be a repeat of major delays, due to oil traffic on the BNSF west of St Paul.

I hope I'm wrong. All you can do is relax and enjoy the ride.

I suppose not to that degree, but it's heartwarming to know that one still can. I would gladly elect myself to wash the dishes instead of cooking. It sounds like everyone is having a great time.

Pictures of your trailing friends...

...Now off to Elliot's to help prepare for your arrival.
