I contacted the person who knows the person making the AMT reproduction domes and here
is what he suggested. If you want to contact him, one would need to find him with his TCA
number at the bottom of his message. I’m not sure how to do this, but there it is.
My friend who had these made contacted the maker and tells me that it would require a perfect dome in order to scan it. Scanning along with creation of the mold would cost $175. I'm guessing actual production would then be about $15-20/piece plus amortization of the base mold creation cost, assuming a fairly limited production run (10-12). I don't know how many of the AMT domes he had made (my guess is 10 or so), so he made the additional six offered for sale at $40 each to defray his costs (although perhaps not actually fully covering them). I guess bottom line, is it could be possible if the numbers worked out for people. Tom TCA 08-62844 |
