Between last night and today I noticed that the postings now have a different look about them.
The upgrade is very nice.
I looked around but didn't find a posting concerning the updated format or any feature changes.
Did I miss something?

It seems to be.....

Looks good to me! easier to read! (aging Eye balls)
Don't like it at all. Especially the heart instead of the like reply. Don't mind the heart so much but now I don't know if I had hit like already unless I hover over the heart and read the names.
The new format for the email alerts sucks too.
So far I like it... but I’m a simple man...

I thought my device was hacked when I logged on late last night. Really weird.
Yep....there was an "upgrade" by our provider. It is important for you all to know that we don't initiate these so called improvements. I am with most of you....some of it is better and some is not but you know how it is....folks can't leave well enough alone....
I noticed that the recent wording change to capture the exact link to a specific post within a thread is no longer there. Does that mean we can't do that function any more?

I am far from being an expert, but some of these changes look made to allow the forum program to be more easily viewed by both computers and tablets/phones. Kind of what Windows 8 was trying to do before the "users" protested loudly and Windows 10 was born.
Interesting, though, that many of these changes weren't made to each sub-forum's Topic list.

First off, they left off the verbiage on the little thread tools icon, so I suspect many people are going to wonder where it went.
And Walt is, of course, correct! They left off the link to a specific post feature!
Finally, what's all the white space about? Is there really a point to that?
I don't see this as an "improvement", at least IMO.
Doesn't bother me.
Don't like the new format at all, BUT with time will get used to it. That's the way it is with all format changes. I recall a couple years back when OGR forum changed format to the one that just got replaced (let's call that Format -1). I couldn't stand the "new format" (Format -1) as did many others and was very comfortable with the old format that was being used prior (Format -2).
Fast forward to today, I have zero recollection of what Format -2 looked like or operated and have no longing wish for it to return. The same will happen with Format -1 in my memory bank by the end of the year.
I'm just happy to have like minded folks I can talk trains with. If the format was changed to hieroglyphics I would eventually figure out how to use it to be able to talk trains.
I just checked my ALERTS and got some on today's photo fun post that I made. I clicked on the link and it did take me directly to MY thread, so there is a way. WHAT IS IT though?

Use the little “Share” icon to link to a specific post.
What little share icon Rich? All I see is the tool icon, that doesn't have it, and the like heart.

Yikes!....I can see the share icon immediately to the left of the tool icon...but I see in John's reply that Walt doesn't have that share icon and apparently either does John...?
John,
Every post that I look at in this thread has the little share icon right next to the gear (settings) icon near the bottom of the post on the right side. Obviously, the one you copied to ask your question is missing the share icon. Question: Do you see the share icon in any other post? If not Rich may have to contact CrowdStack to find out what's wrong.
Chuck
Admin only feature. I see what I posted for every post, whatever icon you're talking about ain't appearing for me!
Interesting, I opened a page in Chrome and the share icon is there. So, they broke it for Firefox!

I don't get it either.
I have it on Firefox.
Firefox works for me too.

Walt- the triangle icon allows you to copy the link (url in the address bar), the gear icon has the old familiar reply with quote tool.
Below is the link "copied" using the triangle.
I used to work for that once great American company ALCOA which at one time had the best company motto I ever heard of " Change for the Better".
Most of the changes being made are just to make changes or to cheapen the product or service.

I will get accustomed to this "improvement" eventually, but I really, really dislike that the timestamp has been moved to the bottom of the posts, that is ridiculous to me.
Not a fan, but I wouldn't expect to be.
Functionality wise, I felt newsgroups/forums peaked with TRN (Threaded Read News) on the Unix machines I used in college... 25 years ago! Add graphics to that interface and I'd be a happy camper! Maybe that still exists, but I'm not going to install some flavor of Linux just to find out, so I guess I'll survive.

Based on this post in another thread, bmoran4 might not have it either.

I'm an old fart and usually don't like changes but this change took about 30 seconds to get used to. I like it and it's a lot easier on these old eyes.
