As some of u may know, diecast sprung weaver 2 rail trucks are very difficult to come by. But, it turns out that the Atlas re-issue of the B&O wagon top box car uses a low bolster truck, similar to the old Weaver trucks. Amazingly, the bolster on the atlas trucks are too low, but it looks like a #3 washer will do the trick if mounted between the truck and the car. The other issue is the mounting screw. The Atlas screw has a flanged head the centers the truck, and keeps it from wobbling on the bolster. These Atlas screws are only 1/4" long, witch is not long enough for use on some weaver cars. They need a screw with the same OD head, but 1/2" long. It will be hard to source..lots of trial and error. A pan head screw might work, and would be a lot cheaper and easier to get than a flanged head screw.
Anyway...They trucks are due here in January. Once I have the hardware issue resolved, I'll put these trucks up on the website for pre-order. The price will be 25.95/pair. Only other "bad" news is so far, they will be available in Bettendorf design only. I know there is a lot of demand for rollerbearing trucks that fit weaver cars. I am looking at getting 2 rail metal wheelset that will fit Weaver plastic truck frames. Not a perfect solution, but better that the plastic wheels, IMHO.
