I like these weaver covered hopper kits but they generally have no trucks or couplers As far as I can tell, trucks and couplers for these are hard to find and expensive. Bottom line, not worth buying. Is there a source for the trucks and couplers I have not found? Thanks for any ideas.

MTH sells the trucks for weaver. I forgot the part numbers hope someone will chime in and have part numbers.
Just posted on WTB, duh! Thanks on the mth, I will look for those on the auction site. As a cheapskate, those are twice the price of the Weaver kits. I hope I can find some "cheap" ones!
Going forward, its best to stay away from 3R Weaver plastic T&C's. Buying LD diecast trucks (if you can find them) will cost more than an entire used MTH Premier car. MTH offers both, R.B. & Bettendorf but it might cost you more than the freight car.
They had a good thing going. Too bad someone couldn't have continue the car line up as it was with a few improvements. Lionel and Atlas acquired parts of the business but haven't covered all the models and roads like Weaver did.
I've got dozens of Weaver PS-2 covered hoppers all of which I put Atlas O diecast sprung trucks and couplers on $21.00 a pair at DuPage train show. Most of these were under $10.00 so to get six different road #s it's still worth it to me,
Athearn trucks and Kadee couplers. Athearn makes a roller bearing style truck. the mounting pads are designed for Kaddes. the bolsters fit athearn trucks well. weaver had their own trucks that were the same height at the bolsters as Athearn.
By the way, Weaver and Athearn "plastic" trucks are engineering plastic, one brand is called Delrin. this is a very slippery self lubricating strong material. Versions of it are used as slide bearings on assembly line hardware.

And if you put IM or NWSL wheelsets in the Athearn trucks, they roll forever!
I have plenty of the Weaver Delrin (Plastic) trucks in the roller bearing style also have axles and Delrin wheels 2 rail and 3 rail. I put Weaver Delrin trucks and wheels on everything I can. Roll fantastic, never need oil, never clean them, and they are quiet. I do use Kadee couplers, plastic and metal only broke one plastic coupler pretty good accident. Let me know if you want some.

Where did you find Athearn roller-bearing trucks? I never see them listed on Athearn's (Horizon Hobby) website.
I like the Athearn O scale delrin trucks (the older metal ones are even better), they are available in Andrews (my favorite), Arch Bar, Bettendorf, and Symington Roller Bearing and are equalized and sprung. Weaver trucks are only equalized. Note: the Weaver Roller Bearing is a Barber S-2
