Replacing the entire front truck frame assembly on this Lionel 6-11154 Pennsylvania 0-8-8-0 CC2 Loco , it was cracked in half. 

The ubiquitous MTH station. I have been struggling with how to do a passenger station on my layout.  I recently discovered the perfect location on the track plan, but it's a vertically challenged area and raised track.  I was going to build up the land and use the atlas suburban station  but it felt too small for the downtown feel I am going for. 

So I came up with a solution.  This mth station, raised platforms and breezeway walkway from second floor, overa taxi/bus lane, to trackside platforms.

I did a more concrete/limestone look for the windows and valance  and mortar, flat blacked the roofs, Masonite sidewalk. 

Work in progress  painting not yet complete.

Thanks!  It's so exciting to finally figure out a solution!  So much time sitting, staring, imagining, and pondering!

Yes! Very much like the Pennsy station in Johnstown where you walk from the station through a tunnel and then up a set of stairs to the platform.

@geysergazer Hi Lew.  Thanks for that information about Johnstown station!  Very valuable information for me, really!  Very on point for what I am doing.  Yet another example of how the forum is great.   Google is great, but its tough to  simply search and find something like this.  Based on your comment, I ws able to get good prototype picture to reference!  Here's a capture of Johnstown station from Google street view:

Just trying to reproduce a vintage photo on my layout. Close but I have a 3460 class Hudson instead of a 2900 class Northern, a F3 instead of a FT, and a 5011 class Texan instead of a 5001 class Texan. 

There was a post earlier this week about building a model of the CUT Station.  I attended the NMRA Convention in Kansas City last year.  There is a Model Rail exhibit in the station with several O gauge models of the Kansas City station.  One is scale and another is compressed.  The Model Rail Exhibit in Kansas City is well worth the visit.

"Monster in Midlothian" Part Deux         One of Jawn Henry's stable mates...

The first time on home rails for The Chessie. The engine posed no problems. Overhang on the 089 wasn't too bad. It actually looks pretty good on the 0138.

The cars however were boogers. The end truck on the observation car kept derailing. I'm going to have to spend some time to try to figure that one out. My solution was to reverse the direction of the train.

I ended up using a yard switcher to move the consist through the reversing loop. The engine then passed through the double crossover and was turned on the Wye. Beats using the old 0-5-0 method. In the end, running the opposite direction on the outer loop worked out OK.

Working in the far north of Scotland (Isle of Lewis) at the moment.

I rescued this boxcar from EBay a few weeks back.

I thought this was a custom car maybe made by a club member. However the Sticker on the base makes me wonder if it’s a official sample.

Thanks for sharing this. I love large urban railway stations and admire good models thereof. This is a GREAT model!

After waiting for Lionel, MTH or Bachmann to do a GP30 in L&N.  I decided to custom paint one.  

I got a Williams by Bachmann GP30 in Great Northern.  I stripped the paint with 91% isopropyl alcohol.  

I then painted it and added O scale decals from Microscale.  

I had Gunrunner John convert it to TMCC and Railsounds.

Just back from MTH. Bottom row of lights were out Christmas morning when it first went on the track. Working perfect now!

Wonderful job! This is one of the reasons I believe O Scalers are some of the best modelers. We have to be to get some of the products we want.
