Anyone got the moonlight caboose for sale?
Having our first spring day warm & sunny has gone to some folks head.
Thanks to forum member Scott, my new On-30 log cars.
Having fun with my mono rail & powering it with a K-Line truck.& easily returned back to truck,
Last one enjoying the warm spring sunshine.
NOT a helix....here are several photos of a train on each of the four levels of our layout--The Glacier Line. The two lowest levels are return loops on the west end of our main line. The third level is a passing through area and the highest level is the return loop from the east end--top of the mountain.
I'll do one repost due to it being lost last week and one new!
First, an Alaska 1500 that I remounted the pilots to be fixed to the engine, not the truck, aged a bit, and added a strobe on top. For a cheap little engine it turned out pretty good looking I think!
And a mill that I won on Ebay looked way to plastic so I disassembled and painted the stonework. I think I'm going to disassemble again and paint the window trim and clap board white but here's a before and after to show some progression!
SIRT...that is the best looking IC boxcar I have ever seen!!! WOW!!
Alan
It is still winter in northern New England. No snow this week, but the 4-5 ft. on the ground sure is not melting. So here is a touch of winter.
Alan,
I was just about to say the same thing. SIRT, that boxcar looks great!

That is one heck of a model. Please keep us updated with this project. Very Nice!
Look what the postman brought me yesterday -
Everything was wrapped in newspaper from 1984, so I would assume that it had not been run in a long time. After some cleaning, the old 2046 was good as new & running around the layout
Picked up some more rolling stock & a GP7 -
Train time w/ Lucia -
Railfanning last weekend -
running trains -
Set 1517W-
Set 2190W -
Obsidian, your backdrops look really good. The trains and other scenery just blend right in.

The backdrops are photos I took of Harper's Ferry, WV. I cropped the pics then had them printed on a roll feed large format injet at Kinko's. Then I trimmed along the treeline before pasting to sky colored walls.

Don't know who built that one but it was a shock to see it. The test mock up was so tall it didn't fit in the room so we are working on a bit lower version. Not often you can get real good dimensions and images of old structures. From the great images you posted on the "Church" thread seems your layout residents are very faithful people!
SIRT - I like it too as I am from Spencer.

I'll try another picture of my town of Spencer.
The city council has approved adding parking meters to the blocks in downtown soon and as deserted as the streets are people must be practicing a boycott. Even the block buster movie "Gone with the Wind" is hurting for business on this lazy summer afternoon. A cab drops off some theater customers as the town cop watches from across the street. The corner sporting goods store and golf pro shop is awaiting the delivery of their new sign "Sportsman's of Spencer".

Come to think about it, our layout residents reflect what is the practice of their custodians. Our minister is a great guy with a huge sense of humor and the next time he comes over to visit, I will have to give him on a tour of the Churches on our layout. I'm sure he will come up with a comment.
Haven't contributed to photo day in a long time. TGIF. I miss my old layout, 4 levels of awesome train action, and it's doubtful I'll ever reproduce anything like it ever again.
Art:
You may want to think about having the City Council rescind the parking meters. With the new mall planned outside of town, this may really hurt the revitalized down town plan. Spencer just doesn't appear to be the same anymore, and all of this in just one week.
Paul:
Your layout sure looks good to me. You have done a fine job with your new layout.
Brian, thanks for the kind words, but those pictures are of my old layout which was fun, fun, fun. Here's one of my new layout under construction. It's also fun, but not nearly as much as its smaller and not as multi-dimensional.
Ray - That really looks realistic! Excellent job of weathering and detailing!

Nice Joe B. Which NS coal cars are they??
Mike,
They are RailKing coal cars I had stripped down from U.P. & Penn. colors and painted in the N/S silver color. I then had them renumbered. The original car number was 30-7510, there are 17 total.
Thanks, Joe B.
This week the Cincinnati and Western welcomed three new sleepers, Oraibi, Hotauta, and Wupatki. These are the final new equipment being added to the Super Chief, modified from K-Line, "Indian Arrow" and "Regal Isle" cars, with the help of advise from numerous threads on this forum regarding paint removal and decal application.
