Thanks guys. I enjoy making those cars look as real as I know how.
Be sure to visit my photo link below for more goodies.
Ray is doing a great job on his cars as well.
Nice work RAY!
All have a fantastic weekend!
Obsidian, your backdrops look really good. The trains and other scenery just blend right in.
The backdrops are photos I took of Harper's Ferry, WV. I cropped the pics then had them printed on a roll feed large format injet at Kinko's. Then I trimmed along the treeline before pasting to sky colored walls.
I have biked and hiked along the C&O Canal which runs right by Harper's Ferry on many, many occasions and your backdrop photos are spot on. Great looking layout.
My favorite Lionel Loco! I don't have one but I plan to get one.
Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous pics, everyone!

Art:
You may want to think about having the City Council rescind the parking meters. With the new mall planned outside of town, this may really hurt the revitalized down town plan. Spencer just doesn't appear to be the same anymore, and all of this in just one week.
Ray:
Outstanding weathering job. Ranks up there with some of the best.
Jason:
Superb re-lettering job. Very creative method of filling our your consist.

We are guests of the Home and Garden Show, no charge. They have always treated us quite well. The General Public, v.s. Train Public is interesting. How long did it take to set this up???? I must have answered that question 50 times, the last two days.

My new 3rd Rail PRR S1.
I finally found an un-skirted version and it was mint, sealed in the original shipping carton. It is #20 of 75.
2014 has already turned out to be a very good year!

Great stuff guy's...
Christopher2035...what do you use for ground cover (green)? And, do you paint the table top before applying or do you just cover the bare wood? Looks great, I like it.
Many Thanks.
Rick.
Found this warehouse at the train show in Jacksonville Fa. a couple weeks ago. Seeing how I moved down here from the Baltimore area, I just had to have it.
I don't run the Turbo Train that often as it's a bit of a pain to transport to the club and set up, but one of our young members had been asking about it.
Meanwhile, Jack "The Apprentice" continues to show his modeling prowess with this 7"x7" diorama (1/48 of course).
obsidian, very nicely done, thanks for the how-to,
I ran my GGD 14 car Daylight with a 3rd Rail Sunset GS4 at the 3 Railers club in San Diego, CA.
Gave the GS4 a break and pulled the same train with my new FP7s from 3rd Rail.
Mike CT, the natural light adds a great realistic touch to what it hits on the layout.
Nice pics, thanks.

OK, all, I'm going to display my ignorance, for all to see. In the real world, are box cars loaded as shown above, with the doorway empty, or, is all the space utilized. I ask because I don't know. It seems to me that it would be a huge waste of space to leave the doorway empty, but I can see an advantage for unloading to do so.
Great modeling, SIRT, as always. I bow before the Master.
Load each side and then fill in between the doors. By all means fill it up. In photo the fork lift is in the car so it is really in the process of being loaded or unloaded.
Actually they are loaded both ways. Filled completely up, which means you have to unload what's in front of the door first, or space left with bulkheads securing the load from moving. It all depends on the product and the customer who's loading the car with their product.
Thanks Guys.
LOL, sounds like one of those 2 railer questions I often get.
3 Rail anything goes I guess, but yes, the car was meant to be partially unloaded.
I have seen a real car photo this way as well.
Trying to give customers a variety option only offered in 2r.
Lionel provides the box loads with an empty middle. They probably should offer a removable middle load along with pallets underneath.
I generally make my own.
As the thread states – PHOTO FUN!
