A 2017 Christmas Layout memory
The lited train on the right was a Christmas gift from my sister and is REALLY special to me since it was only a few months after that when she unexpectedly passed away. I've tried each year since (3 now) to have something on the layout as a tribute or in memory of her. '17 it was this train.
The one on the left, nothing special. i had the room so i set it out.

Do I have to grow up now that Toys "R" Us is shutting down?
My new layout will have a hobo village which will include a siding with a graffiti covered boxcar. Last Saturday I was fortunate to be invited to a gathering of fellow forumites at Gerry and Sue Morlitz' home to view his wonderful layout. Rather than purchase a graffiti covered boxcar I figured it would be a good idea to have the guests cover a boxcar with their own graffiti. The only problem is we were having so much fun, the car didn't make it around to everyone.
Here's the result:
I'll continue to add to it whenever I visit a layout - far better than buying one in my humble opinion!

An Erie E unit that almost ended up in the river outside the Hornell engine shops. I'd hate to have to explain this one to the superintendent.
Last weekend we took a trip to the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.
They were holding a special behind the scenes tour for Kids with children’s author Chris Vine. Chris writes the Peter’s Railway series of books.
Mason with the newly out shopped “River Esk”. She was on test. The paint was still being finished on Friday.
The guys asked Mason if he would like to fire the engine.
Chris explaining how a locomotive works. (we were very lucky to be in the Sunday morning group with just the 2 lads. The afternoon group was 17!)
This was “Synolda” the kids loco for the day. Built in 1912 by Bassett-Lowke.
Backshop tour
Then Mason got the chance to drive..
A fantasic day was had by all. Many thanks to Chris and all the staff at the Ravenglass & Eskdale.

Have a great weekend.

My UP1943 SD70ACe arrived late last week. To my pleasant surprise, it handled the club layout fine (six-axle scale wheeled engines are sometimes temperamental). I also got the POW/MIA box car which I'll probably set up as a T-car to pull the excursion passenger cars. The caboose apparently hasn't shipped yet.

Matt,
Wonderful. Thanks for the pic. Got to see it in person heading thru Cleveland with the UP OCS two weeks ago.
