Scott,
Thanks for starting this thread. Great scenes of your son's layout.
Frank,
Love those back yard scenes and the parking garage is awesome.
Chris,
Go Navy!! Godspeed to your son.
Here is my latest purchase, I just had to have it to inspect my track work on the modules. Thanks to Frank Mulligan for offering it.

The station details are superb!!! Was it custom made or purchased?.
BTW the oil refinery is also top shelf.
Nice Photos Everyone!
As I prepare to build a new layout, I have some ideas in mind, but have not settled on an exact plan. So, I borrowed an idea from another local O-gauger: Have a layout planning party with the local train guys. (Also an excuse to eat, drink and socialize). I provided my layout requirements and preferences, scale-sized floor-plan templates for the basement, pencils, markers, and tape-measures for the guys to brainstorm and sketch ideas and concepts.
Here are some of the guys at work coming up with ideas as my wife dubbed the event, "Trainstorming 2012":
Chet and Wes have their priorities straight, while Bob and Zac draw near the food. Joe's got a story for Dave and Lynn in the background, while I stuff food in my mouth.
Bob, Sam, Frank, Charlie, Walt, Tom, Tom, and Tom doing some serious train-storming
The guys came up with some great ideas that I can include in the final design.
A little maintenance...
Marty, are you working up on your roof?
With no wife to throw you out you can stay inside now.
Those certainly look like shingles...
As Chris's honors his son upon entering the "New Navy" I will honor him with a photo from my "Old Navy".
Hello Walt Rapp........

Tiffany,
I have all my stuff packed away until October York. The truck came with the Pepsi machine that you also see in the picture. It's not some elaborate name, I'm sure of that.
If I have some time I'll dig it out and get back to you.

Love the night shots!!!

I didn't see your comment earlier Bob. Thank you for working with Tiffany - you've saved me an hour of unpacking stuff to find it.
Tiffany, if for some reason you want for me to still look up mine let me know - it's not that inconvenient to unpack if it means helping out someone.

Day one of running trains this weekend with the Pittsburgh Independent Hi-Railers at the Greenberg Train Show in Monroeville, PA. It is a smaller than usual setup due to some of our members having other obligations, but it is still fun!
Andy
Andy, Thanks for sharing the nice pictures 0f the club layout
Dad had one job after college....Ashland Oil....those bring back good memories!!! Thanks
Dave glad they bring back good memories. Alan really made us a nice refinery and we love to run our trains around it.
What about a Wildlife Bridge to help animals cross over the highway.
This is for the guys that "think" everything has to be to "SCALE". Got this picture sent to me via Facebook. Hope you all have fun with this picture
Very interesting, Roger. Thank you for sharing that. I had heard of that concept, but I am not sure I ever witnessed it. Where is that one?
Frank
Andy, Enjoyed seeing the layout today. Nice photo of the Ligonier Valley Hoppers.

Frank,
I really do not know if this is real or "Photoshopped" I just got it from a friend on Facebook and he did not know either. I just thought that some of the guys that dig scenery would smile when they see this.
I always thought that this was a deer crossing over I-78 in NJ. All you see from the road are trees. No I see some form of access rd. But why plant trees on an overpass if not for nature?
Andy, where did you get that MGA red white and blue caboose at? I am a huge MGA fan, i am saving up my change to get the MGA ES44AC NS heritage unit (whenever they finally come out)

I got it several years ago from Niedzalkoski's Train Shop in Jeannette, PA. I'm pretty sure that it was the only one they had when I bought it. It is an Atlas O NE-6 caboose item #6677 and is listed as a limited edition.

Your Woolworth's with the red and white stripe awning in the 3rd picture is great. Brought back memories of the one in downtown Washington DC, 7th St. We would love to see additional shots of it.
Thanks
Sam
I'm also huge fan of the Monongahela. I have an Atlas O model of A Monongahela caboose that's in the green paint scheme with the red=orange "M". In HO, I also have Atlas GP38s and NE6 cabs in Monongahela.
Alot of great shots everyone! I look forward to this thread every weekend.
Thanks Scott.

I saw these and had to put them into a gondola for all to see.
It's O gauge or no gauge. - Sheldon
Day two of the Greenberg Show in Monroeville, PA. Here are a few shots of my new Lionel Legacy Cass 2 Truck Shay:
This was its first time on the tracks and it ran like a champ all day (and really smoked up a storm, as well).

These is actually three on Route 78 - one at MM 44 the other at Exit 45. They serve a dual purpose to get wildlife across the highway through the Watchung (Park) Reservation. The access road pictured goes to some sort of science monitoring station on the hillside in the reservation.
Thanks for the facts, DaveP. I'm going to watch for those crossings next time I'm on my way to York and points beyond!

I stand corrected as I believe you are right. I have killed off too many brain cells apparently. I DO remember the terrific Half Smokes from there as part of our Christmas shopping downtown. That included a swing by Corrs hobby shop on 9th street. This was back in the early 60's.
There was a Woolworths (or perhaps a Kresges) in Anocostia on Good Hope Road that had the stripped awning.
Andy, Your Shay looked like it was really working with all those LARGE LOGS!!!
