Here are some photos I got of some AT&SF steamers in Oklahoma when I visited about a month ago.

AT&SF 940 is the last surviving AT&SF 2-10-2, and is beautifully cosmetically restored in Bartlesville, OK.

AT&SF 1096 is a 2-6-2 Prairie in Blackwell, OK, and has definitely seen better days.  It's really a shame the condition she's fallen into.

A friend e mailed me some photos the other day.

I have no idea who took the photos or when taken.

I had seen the photo of the Canadian National SD70M-2 (8022) online, a few years ago. According to the description, the accident happened at the Westshore Terminals Ltd coal export terminal (49°00'59.1"N 123°10'02.6"W) near Vancouver, British Columbia when it was tipped by the rotary dumper. I came across the picture when I was searching for images for car positioners. Rotary Dumpers are popular & even Lionel offered a model in O-Scale but there is not much discussion or images / videos of the car positioner that grabs the rotary AAR Type-F coupler between coal or ore cars & moves the cars automatically by a fixed distance to be positioned in & dumped by the rotary dumper.

Here is another picture of the accident showing also showing the yellow car positioner.

These are just my opinion.

Thanks,

Naveen Rajan

I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving and your bank accounts survived black Friday.  This weekend has been a feast for the eyes. My finger hurts, My eyes are sore and getting in line for fifth and sixth helpings. This weekends feast has had everything from Layout pics, Train shows, 1/1 layouts,  Individual items, and videos. We have seen a mural , a tribute to Dad and had been taken to several museums.  Yep What an eye fest, all that's missing now is a good Train movie to complete the weekend.  The best part about this unlike Thursdays meal. I wont have to go to the gym and sweat this off.

So here is my contribution, just what we need another video, but at least you will not have to go to the gym to work off the pounds gained nor spend any money.

After a Thanksgiving visit to New York State (see Real Trains, Midweek Photos)  and oldest stepson and family, I got to do some O gauge today. I continued the process of renovating my MTH Rail King Amfleet passenger cars.

Step1 & 2:  Paint seats red, add passengers.

Step 3: Replace lighting with LEDs. The kits Gunrunner John developed and are sold by Henning's Trains work well.

Step 4: Enjoy results.

imageIMG_1611I had a friend paint and letter these Tennessee Central 1937 AAR box cars for me. The box cars are very early Atlas O scale kits. I used modern Atlas O scale 3 3 rail trucks. The decals  came from Proto Craft.

7055  is in the TC as delivered scheme. Car 501 is in the 1958 TC scheme.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Thanks for all the "likes"

I do need to clear up one minor detail. the "TC" herald decals came from a Champ decal set. the pictures of the prototypes did not have the "TC" herald.

TC 1937 AAR boxcar2

TC 1937 AAR boxcar late 1950

I have seen pictures and other models of Tennessee Central boxcars with the TC herald, so I wanted  my two box cars to have it.

In the model railroad world as in the real world, the Tennessee Central just does not get any respect.

Have a good week,

Richard

Here is three video's running trains with the clarksburg area model railroad club at stonewall resort. 11/25 to 11/26/16

Jeff,

Looks like it was a nice event in Clarksburg!

Mark this was in Roanoke WV

Jeff,

Thank you for the clarification!!  Now I see; the Clarksburg club was set up in Roanoke!  I sure miss living in Central Virginia and West Virginia, even though we have been back in our native Western Pennsylvania for 20 years now!

I picked up a set of Lionel 2343 F unit from the Memphis Train and Trolley Museum. The engines were in a box of trains donated to the Museum.

Cosmetically they were in sad shape. I have never seen warped F 3 shells until now.  Although there was server battery damage the F 3 ran, although sluggish, and the E  unit cycled fine.

A call to The Train Tender resulted in the purchase of a new frame, new battery / relay bracket, new relay and two sets of motor brushes. Jeff was also able to provide me with two 2343 shells completely stripped and ready for restoration. I dropped the shells off at Len's booth during October York. They will come back as a set of 2345 Western Pacifics.

I finished rebuilding the powered A unit today All it took was a new frame, a good cleaning , replacing the horn relay and relay bracket, new brushes, and a good dose of Red and Tacky grease. She runs fine. I also converted the horn to a 9v battery.

Here are a few pictures and a short video of the project. I salvaged all of the detail parts from the two original shells.
