I went to the Worlds Greatest Hobby show in Salt Lake City today. First let me say, this is Utah and we take what we get so I went with low expectations but wanting to have a good time. When I arrived at the Expo center O was impressed to see an overflowing parking lot, then I found out the other side of the venue was having a gun show. Well so much for thinking the show would be packed.

I was happy to see about 300 people in line when it opened. Atlas, Lionel and MTH all had booths there. About 10 of the states club were there with modular layouts as well as the NMRA. Sadly no sign of the TCA who was there a few years back with a layout.

A few of the local shops had a booth and they looked busy, only a bit of O-Scale. One guy I recognized from the show 3 years ago, and guess what he still had the same Red and Blue Commodore Vanderbilt and the Lionel warhorse set for sale that he did then.

Not too much new, Lionel's Ready to Run and Stand alone American Flyer catalog will be out by the end of the month. The Signature Catalog next month with "Lots of new stuff"

Went to MTH but there were trying to do a DCS demo and I didn't bet much info from him. Did get to check out the Tinplate again. One day I will get one. Atlas was more HO at this show, so not much there.

I was actually surprised by the way the hall filled up, not sure how it will be tomorrow since it's Super Bowl Sunday but today looked very successful.

Here are a few pics

Lionel's booth. Jay Don and Tom were there. Tom let me know he reads the forum

Really Like the Lego group we have here always a huge and interesting layout

I felt sorry for the MTH guy doing the Demo. He kept getting the engine not found message with this locomotive. I guess he should have bought Barry's book

The Hostlers HO group is the states largest group, they have a large layout with some nice scenery

This was a huge but very detailed circus, fight down to a scene of a guy getting his pocket picked

My former O-Gauge clubs modular layout... Oh well

The G-Scale layout was popular

Another Shot of Lionel's layout

Now I can't believe I didn't get a shot of the American Flyer layout, but it was huge, probably the biggest layout there. I didn't think we had that much in the state

Chris, thank you for taking the time to take and post photo's of the show.  Most forum members don't take the time to think of others who are not able to attend certain shows for one reason or another.  Maybe with the ease of posting photo's now that will change.

The show in Portland, Oregon is later this month.  I will take photo's and post after the show.  Thanks again Chris.
