Well... before the doors officially open on Thursday, I'll be looking for a bunch of folks in the Fairgrounds parking lot who have purchased items from my Virtual Bandit Meet for-sale thread!!!  Might even add a few more surprises to the thread later tonight!

After that, I'll spend most of my time in the Orange Hall.  Aside from catching up with old and new friends, York has become more of a "trade-show" for me rather than a "train meet".  No doubt, it's always fun when something very special calls your name to purchase it.  But it's also nice to stroll the aisles casually -- meeting with vendors/suppliers that can serve as an inspiration for me, since I'll be undertaking construction of a new O-gauge layout this year.

Really nothing particular except a Lionel Santa Fe Special train set from the 1990s. Had one as a kid, got lost int he "shuffle" and have wanted one back for a long time. Before using more conventional control, I remember seeing one set, NIB at York for $100. Didn't buy it and had a long trip home regretting it! That was a top of the line Lionel set back in the day - 4-4-2, air whistle tender, log dump car, auto loader, boxcar, flatcar with semi truck, lighted caboose, figure 8 track, etc.

I have a few other sets from when I was a kid but none are really near the top of the list.

I've been considering a Williams Toronto streetcar - I got to drive a real Toronto PCC trolley at the National Capital Trolley Museum. The Williams is the closest looking to the real deal.

Will make a few extra $$$ before the doors open Thursday by trading a few for sale deals for cash!

Other than that, looking to have a great time and make my feet hurt!!! Nothing particular I need or want.

Friends. No more room for trains! My wife and I will be starting out in the Lancaster area, moving west toward York, arriving sometime Friday afternoon. We'll walk the halls and meet old friends, then go to dinner with more friends and head north for home. Short York experience this time around.

Absolutely, I look forward to catching up with my friends.......

I will be picking up a few things for my fellow modular group members. I need a few Plasticville parts to complete some buildings for the modular group raffle layout.

Maybe these.....

A command-control D&H diesel......may wait for a LionelChief Plus RS3

Always am interested in 027 green streamline passenger cars from the 40s.....no worse than good condition begging for clean-up.....

A good deal on a scale length WBB GG1.

Springs for the 3376 giraffe car.

Another die cast K-Line gondola

Not a lot ....mostly, just to socialize.

Thinking of going as a 1st timer. Trying to build up a MTH consist of Christmas boxcars but given this is a spring show, am I likely to find much Christmas themed rolling stock? I went to the Amherst Show in Springfield MA earlier this year and saw some Polar Express items, but not a lot else. I'd like to go just for the experience, but would enjoy it more if I can find MTH Christmas boxcars for years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Since this will be my first York train meeting I looking forward meeting everyone and personal thanking them for there help over the years.   Also would like to thank the publisher of the O Gauge Forum and the staff for great place they created on the internet for help and sharing ideas of our hobby. In regards to purchases I am just looking if something jumps at me, of course I will consider a purchase or two but nothing major at this time. If there is a PRR GG-1 with all the bells and whistles I would strongly inclined to take a hard long look at and add to my collection.  I have everything I need or want I just need to purchase a house so I can build a layout.  Having everything is storage boxes and try to set up a carpet layout is not my idea of having fun.

Good morning, it is just going to be a nice day (Friday) to get away from it all and just walk around and see what's new.

It's always great to see the OGR crew, and many other suppliers in the Orange Hall.

Looks like the weather is going to be perfect, rain on Monday and Tuesday morning after that sunshine and temperatures warming up everyday into the week.

The cold and snow we had this week is starting to get old !!!!!!

The only thing I will be looking for is the latest offerings from DiecastDirect. Train-wise, I'm full-up. Lately I've been spending time at gun shows.

Farmer Bill, most seem to have all their teeth.

Speaking as someone who also goes to gun shows, I have to say that you're trading one kind of crazy old guys for another.  IMO, the chances of finding a good deal are better at a train show.

This will be my first York so I will be looking forward to meeting as many OGR members as possible.

And of course any train bargains as well...

At the top of my list is a set of Lionel Burlington E-5's.

Thursday AM, before the opening.....rather than just killing time, join us for breakfast at the Round-the Clock Diner.....we start around 0830 and leave there around 1030....The diner is at the intersection of I-83 and Route 30.

Since this is your 1st time, a large group of us congregate inside the lobby of the Orange Hall about 11AM......the north side of the concession stand, until the 12 noon opening.....join us there too......it's all very informal (that's how it began about 10years ago when the Orange Hall opened).

I'm looking for someone with a dead MTH PS1 F3 (SF preferred) set for parts.  Midge has me lined up with those parts I know, but it's the unknown-unknowns that will bite me...

Looking for some MTH brass smoke unit funnel options (diameters) - different mounting interfaces for the funnel to the shell; some original MTH F3 single pick-up rollers or replacement double roller versions (with insulators) that will drop-in to the single location; maybe some soft-white LED's to replace bright white MTH versions; replacement couplers to swap out long MTH electro-couplers with no-electro-coupler option for dummy;

Someone who will replace Vince's Trains with equivalent outstanding deals...

You may still have some luck.  While there may be a slight bit more focus in October, it's not like people don't bring Christmas stuff in April, they definitely do.  (Observations as a buyer).

As a seller (only for a few years now), I've found interest (or actual sales) are hit and miss in terms of  people's interest in Christmas stuff.  I sold more Christmas related stuff one April than I would have expected.

I stopped buying MTH Christmas cars before the years you are looking for so I can't help you with those specific boxcar needs.

As for what I'm looking for:

  • People who decide they need some of the stuff I bring!   (Assuming I can get my act together and pack a table's worth of items between now and then).
  • I'll also probably look to see if any new Train videos (OGR GLA 12, or others) are out on DVD this meet.
  • Not specifically looking for particular trains themselves, but you never know.  Maybe another MTH York car and Club renewal with Premier and RK cars, but I'm starting to question why I keep up with those at this point.

Moon,

If you're looking for certain Christmas cars, please email me.  I have many of them, from 1996-onward, but was not intending to bring them to the show this time.  If you might have interest, perhaps we can work something and conclude at the show.

My email is in my profile.  Thanks.

VADarthDad,

Not sure where you'd like to be price wise, but I will have a brand new Santa Fe F-3 A-A set (w/Proto1) at the show for sale.  If you might have interest, drop me an email and perhaps we can join forces at the show.  Thanks.

I finally bought a small travel trailer this year (first York was as a guest in 1988) so I'll be there all 3 days. There were some good guys trailer camping near the red hall last Fall (I was in tent, being a boy scoutmaster) so I hope to see them. So first goal is to meet more members and enjoy the fellowship. Second is some modern era parts, third maybe nice early MPC boxed set and a few cars.

I'm looking for people to buy all the stuff on my table so I can then go and fill up my boxes with different stuff to take home.

As for trains, as long as the prices are  reasonable, certain K-Line aluminum hoppers (C&O with the line image of Chessie on the side), any of the handful of MTH Premier NS Heritage Hi-Cubes I'm missing, certain Weaver items.  Don't have too high hopes for any of the stuff on my want list, but with York, I always find something I want.

Andy

I'm really REALLY hoping to find at least 1 of the MTH BNSF SD40-2's with Proto 2. If I can't find those, there's plenty of older Lionel modern era steam engines from the early and mid 90's I haven't added to my collection.

I know I WILL be giving one of my favorite engines a repair and upgrade by one of our forum members.

Oh yeah, and of course spending the trip with my dad and my fellow train friends. With a few good meals and drinks as well. For me, this is Comic Con for us train nuts.
