Johan, another nice scene and the tank car is perfect for the scene too.

Mark, you are so right it is amazing how the stuff accumulates over the years.

So this afternoon I got a pleasent surprise, well not a total surprise, I knew it was coming but it was suppose to get here on Saturday. I managed to get another Weaver TOFC. I really don't do Fantasy schemes but I had gotten one a while back from this club on Long Island so when this came up on the B I jumped on it. They must of had a few done. pic of the car.............Paul 2

The Weaver TOFC done for the Central Operating Lines club was one of 4 different cars. The club up to that point had 4 locations with Ronkonkoma being the one in existence at the time these cars were made. The other three commemorate Amityville, Babylon and Holbrook. These were made in a small run and were well subscribed by club members.

There were other Weaver cars done for the club including a Coal Hopper with load, a tank car, a covered hopper which was available with either red oxide or black trucks and a Woodside reefer done as a milk car. They all include the 4 towns on LI the club had been located in . All were done in small runs and were popular with club members.

Central operating Lines has a 5th location these days in Bohemia NY very near Islip McCarthur airport. Usually a lot of members on a Friday night so stop by and say hello. There will also be formal open houses events in October, November and December of 2019.

Enjoy your car . I thought it was the best of the bunch.

Paul, I always wonder where junk like this comes from.  It just seems to accumulate overnight like mushrooms!

Johan, that is a nice looking Gulf tank car.  Nice little tank facility as well!

Mark. Thank you. More Gulf  tank cars coming soon.

Johan

Johan, I bought one Gulf tank car on eBay and only later learned that MTH had marketed a set of three, each with a different number.....so then I watched and bought the set when it came up on eBay. Now I have four of them

YES!!!!  Started wiring for power on the elevated level but it's taking longer than expected because I didn't like the look of wires coming down even though I had them really close to the pillars.  So I went out and bought some small plastic piping and painted them the same color as the pillars and they kind of look like drainage pipes coming down.  I did get 4 of the 10 done and did get to run a train back and forth a little up there.  I would have got 1 more done but Paul called and he talks like an old woman.  Just kidding my friend.

Hey folks,

I always enjoy reading this post and am so happy I finally have something to add. I’ve planned these shelves for my train room and bought the trim with grooves last fall.  Having 3 little kids often the train room gets “shelved” for other things.  This past week I’ve painted all the trim and got things going. Tonight my dad came over and we got a lot done.  Only part done but have made good progress. Here are some pics. The best part is that the trains fit perfectly in the grooves.  After I have the shelves up I will be adding an upper double loop to the layout.  Finally ....progress!!

Rick R, The walnut shells are a great idea! Well Done!

Paul 2, Sure looks like a lot of work I sure hope you have fun! Nice TOFC, What's that make the count now 100! LOL

Johan, wonderful job on the tank facility!

Lew, Nice shot of your tank farm area!

Bruce, the station/mall area looks great!

Bryan, great idea to hide the wires, blends right in! Nice work!

Howard things sure are looking good at your place! Keep up the wonderful work!

Gerhardt, Nice work on the shelves! What kind of molding is that?

Well guys I told you I was short of time last I was here. So here is a little in site of how my week has been going. I went to get my drivers license renewed, I could get my CDL cause they require a Birth certificate, well my last name on mine didn't match my license, was never a problem till Home land Security changed the rules. So $200 later and a visit in front of a judge I got my last name changed to the one I have been using all my life cause my wonderful parents did see it being needed to legally do it when my stepdad and mom got married when I was 1.

Then on top of that my tractor that I have been using to earn extra money for the train room broke. I ordered a part from the local tractor store and the sent the wrong part. The guy there said we can fix it and make it work. I got it home yesterday and it looked like everything was going good. Once I got it together the area they fixed and said would work fine is now leaking oil. So now I have to take everything back part, and hope the tractor can get me the right part like they were to do the first time.

So needless to say there has been no train room time for Mike. Only 229 emails from the forum and all the great work being done!

Well its Sunday, day of rest. But I still hope you all find time to have fun today!

Loaded a mill gon at the scrapyard:

Anyone spotted the mirror? When I tweaked the East-end industrial area the best location for the scrapyard meant the pile of scrap had to be out of sight of the crane operator, the view being blocked by the waiting gondola, so a mirror was installed to provide a line-of-sight. One of those suspension-of-disbelief situations we are all familiar with

Not that a real crane would be controlled by a toggle switch and two Atlas slide switches located underground
