So the new elevated line has 3 bridges and I wanted to do something unique for each one.  So 2 of them I named after my late Dad (Jerry Persing Memorial Bridge) and my Grandfather (Howard Morgan Memorial Bridge).  Side note my wife got a little chocked up when she saw what I was doing with the nameplates on those 2.  That left 1 bridge left and so in honor of the guy who cracked the whipped to get me going on this part of the layout this summer and also signed my TCA membership many years ago when you needed 2 signature to get in....I introduce the following.

Anyway, I haven't done any work on the layout in a few weeks, but will be heading down in a little while. I had been expecting Patrick today, but he had to cancel at the last minute, so this will be my chance to work on taping track diagrams to the fascia, and drilling for bolts for the uncoupler project. It would be nice to have all that done, so when Patrick does come over, we can get serious on the wiring part.

Got up early today to go fishing for about 2 hours and then came back to the train room to take care of a small job but absolutely needed to be done.

The green arrows show the tags I place on the handheld controller, that show today’s date. I do not use rechargeable batteries and I change the batteries every year.

I will also have a Dark Chocolate Yooper Bar after lunch today.

I've been doing that too, but I just write on a piece of tape when I change them. Some of my cab-1's batteries are going on a few years now, but I don't run my trains all that often.

Not being from Michigan, I'm not sure what's in a Yooper Bar, but I'm more of a milk chocolate guy.

Paul - Thanks for coming over and taking and posting all those pictures. I always like seeing the layout from someone else's perspective. There's still lots to be done.

Curtis -  Thanks. Like I said in another topic, I'm sort of immune to the running bug. I've run so many trains in my life, that it's just not a priority these days. Right now the layout is in "display mode" mainly for when guests come over. It's just a very large loop. Eventually, I'll be switching to "operations mode" where I will be running a lot of trains with the help of a crew. Think of this as the lull before the storm. It could also be that I'm just more into the switching aspect of trains, which is the whole point of this layout.

I am guilty!!   I know I contributed to taking us farther off track, but I didn't bother going back to see if any posts were deleted.   I'm an admin on two Facebook O-gauge groups, one of which is quite large, and I do know it can be a tough call when members get off track.  If it isn't derogatory, nasty, or blatantly against the rules, we usually let things slide.  When we get complaints, then we have to be more strict.  Sometimes we admins on the large group have a FB Messenger conversation that can take up 20, 30, or more comments to reach a decision.  The group originator has the final call.  I actually have less input than some of the other admins since there are times I can't be on the smart phone.  I will say this and take it for what it is worth; it is a tough job administering any forum or group.  I appreciate the work all administrators and moderators do.

Vincent, That looks like a great addition you got at Guadalajara.  Captain America, Phillies hat, Perfect!!!  And that is coming from a lifelong Pirates fan!!  

I still think I would stick out like a sore thumb even in The Gringo Zone!!

Bryan, first chance I've had to respond. So I prodded you along a little bit LOL. I knew you could get it done and it came out fantastic. Now with that out of the way you can settle into a more laid back speed and work on scenery and buildings again. All I can say is I am flatered that you put my name on the layout. Today USPS dropped off a package from Diecast Direct. I lucked out again and picked up some vehicles for a good price. I think now I have enough cars so I can get back to looking for reasonably priced trucks. Also I went to the Menards Train Show in Wisconsion and on the way back the wife and I took the SS Badger from Wisconsin to Michigan. It was a great trip aboard one of the last coal fired ships. Larry what a wonderful layout you have! I hope mine with look good someday, I don't have a problem building the bench work its making it look real where I think I am going to have the problem. But that's along way off!

So yesterday I got a little time in the train room. I was able to cut my 6" plywood addition so I can now add roads to my layout, I also got the center cross section cut for my return loop. So today I am going to work on a little more 6" pieces and try and figure out how I want to build the life section for the center cross section. I had to crawl under it 4 times yesterday and that has to change! LOL

Oh Bob... that’s not a penance - you must have grown up in one of those “progressive” lovey-dovey parishes. I come from the old school (think a 6’ 9” nun dressed head to toe in black standing over you with a menacing metal ruler in her hand). I was thinking of something more along the lines of spending 30 days doing wiring on Elliot’s layout

Four of my five TTs are on end modules which precariously position them for an engine's last ride.  I have considered various ways to protect engines from a run off and have come up with this.  Using Locktite's new high density foam spray I am going to develop a berm around the pits.

Might be a bit contrived but anything is better than taking a dive:

The next two shots are of  a TT module added to what will be an yard engine service area.

Need to massage the basic shape some more and coat the foam but one of them have already  been stabbed with a pilot.  

My TT's are more a tool for spinning a loco at the end of a run, not really a typical TT and RH setup.  That would just gobble up far too much for  space for my operating needs.

I spent the weekend working on our circus train. The elephant transport car is almost finished. I will post photos of the finished product in a few days. I did some detail painting on 2 box cars for the train. Thanks to rattler21 on the forum, AKA John, for giving me his blessing to use his interior design for the elephant transport. I told him that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
