I did not do all this today.

It took 16 hours over three evenings.  I wanted five bumpers for my spurs and had $0.00 to spend.  I looked at pictures, drew pictures, took measurements, shuffled some "craft sticks", and ended up here.  They are way too white.  I don't want them just flat black.  Any ideas to make them look better?  They work too.  My end game includes a 3mm LED to indicate spur power.  I rearranged most of the south yards for more track.  After dinner I'm going to switch the stuffins out of my cars.  Everyone rolls tonight.

Nice project!  Spring for a rattle can of Rust-Oleum Camouflage - 1918 Earth Brown.   That would be a great color for such a project!   Also a good color if you decide to paint your track!

Cheers, Dave

Drat!!! Guess I’ll have to head back to the confessional, put on my thinking miter, and come up with something more perverse (like making you run your trains like the LIRR during rush hour)

You are assuming that the LIRR "runs" trains during rush hour 🤪

Nice job! A scrounge to make @M. Mitchell Marmel proud.

Never done this, but what about aging them with real mud and grime from the yard? That's free. Likely you have some scraps left to try it out?

Odenville Bill, and RSJB18  Bob, speaking of scratch building, those end of track Bumpers are really snazzy. Weathered properly they will look very realistic.  I hope to learn some scratch building technics, nest treat with pop sickle sticks... Biscuita97, Platform looks great! One piece of advice paint the platform supports concrete gray!

Brian, very cool pictures! Lew is right about this one!

Mark thank you, I have a plan, just need to wait a little!

Tom, Looks like a great idea and Cheap! I LIKE IT! LOL

Bill, as long as they work and for the price you cant beat it! I plan on trying to make my own out of leftover rail. We will see how it goes!

Dave, WOW what a change! Looks like you have a wonderful start, I will be watching for what's next!

Larry, thank you so much, it really means a lot when folks like you and others that have such great layouts comment about mine!

Well today I got a little more done in the train room. I hope I never have to take this apart as it has tons of glue and staples holding it together! I worked on the cross section for my reverse loop, I really didn't want legs, but I am going to build some sort of lift section and I needed them to support the weight. I also got some cork laid, but want to wait till I get my "Y"'s to make sure everything lines up correctly! Here are a few pictures.

Well tomorrow is Monday. Yuck I know, but please try to have some kind of FUN!

Good point, Bob. Some of my former colleagues who were LIRR commuters would certainly agree with you. Crawl might be a more apt description.

Guess I’ll just have to come up with something more devious. Maybe restrict your choice of equipment to a beat up repro Girls Set, and then, only in months with an “r”.

Wow, Mike, I can't believe the progress you're making. Before long, I expect the scenery will be in place and trains will be running daily!

Aha! So it's a Western Maryland kind of a day in Brianville;

All we have now are models, [past] photos and a few relics like this:

The Western Maryland bridge over the B&O mainline a mile above Meyersdale and about 3 miles West of Sand Patch. Both these pics 1998.

Morning everyone, You folks on the east coast are just waking up and most here on the west are still sleeping. Me I had to get up cause my back was hurting do to a crap of a bed! LOL

Mark, Thank you, I do have a plan, the problem is it takes a little more money! LOL

Lee, the Jeep and Truck look Great! I can see how some might not see them. But that is just because of your wonderful work and how realistic your layout really looks! Also thank you for the kind words on my layout!

Brian, some cool Western Maryland photos! You don't see many of those any more I bet!

Lew, I am with Mark, great photos! They have been turning RR lines around here into walking / biking trails for awhile now. When I worked for the county we must have paved miles after miles for the bikes. The funny thing is BN reserves the right to reclaim the property as they see fit for there needs!

Moring everyone and Happy Tuesday! So lets start with the good news I did my last Hyperbaric Treatment yesterday! Was getting old and after 40 days in a row I am glad to have that done! Next Doctor appointment is 6 months if nothing else comes up!

So yesterday when I got home I was able to finish putting all the 6" addition around my layout and added a little more by the airfield to make room for my Grayhound bus station. Here are a couple pictures.20190715_16005620190715_160049                                          So here in the second picture you can see by adding 6" to the edge I had to move the control panel out 6" which left me with a new task. The wires from the terminal block to the switches did not have enough slack, so now I have to extend each wire from the control panel to the terminal block and make sure I get them put back in the right spot! LOL Easier said then done. Good thing I have nothing but time aside from work! LOL Now I just have to get some more 22AWG wire and more shrink tube.

Here is something I would like to get some input from you all. Even though I really like the airfield, the wife and I were talking last night and thought it might be better suited with a mountain with a lake or something. So if you all wouldn't mind chiming in and give me your thoughts!

Its Tuesday which is a good thing cause it means we made it past Monday! So with that in mind I hope everyone has a great day and please have some FUN!

Oh Bob... that’s not a penance - you must have grown up in one of those “progressive” lovey-dovey parishes. I come from the old school (think a 6’ 9” nun dressed head to toe in black standing over you with a menacing metal ruler in her hand). I was thinking of something more along the lines of spending 30 days doing wiring on Elliot’s layout

Requiescat in pace.

I thought the wood ruler used at my school was bad............😜

Glad to hear that your treatment cycle is complete!

Regarding the airfield verse mountain question:  I would build the mountain and put the airfield on the summit.   You could still have a lake or stream and waterfall as part of the design as it appears that you have plenty of area in that corner.

Cheers, Dave

Mike, I'd go for the mountain. I really like the effect of the train entering a mountain and at the same time exiting the mountain in a different direction:

Mike g, great news the Hyperbaric treatments are over. That should give you more layout time. And from the pics you are making really good headway. My choice would be to put a mountain where the airport is. Sometimes it is hard to get everything into a layout that we want. The way you keep adding to the tables the center area is getting smaller. Maybe a addition to expand would be in order LOL.

Mark, you are lucking out. Ever since we got back from Wisconsin I have not had anytime for the layout so I have had no chance to crack the whip LOL.

Luvindemtrains, your scenery is coming out great.

Lee,  even though you had finished your layout you still find places to add to the already grerat scenery...Paul 2

Mike, I too am glad your treatments are done!!  40 days straight!!  Wow!  That sounds like when I worked at the power station and every spring and fall they would pull maintenance on on of the generating units.  We would have to work a minimum of seven 12 hour days, and I lived an hour away!  I never had any idea what day it even was!!

I am with everyone else who like the mountain, and Brian made an excellent rendering of what it could look like!!

Paul, I was wondering!  I hadn't seen you doing anything on your layout, so I got lax on watching out for the drone!!
