Hi guys- busy weekend getting all the decorations up. Finished up last night and put all the boxes and storage bins back up in the attic. I plan to get the track down under the tree tonight. I have to evict the cat first.

In between decorating I did some more cleaning on my M-10000

Dave- that yard looks great. I like how you mixed operating accessories with the flats and loading docks. The lighting looks great too. I think you may have inspired Mike on his scrap yard project.

Paul- the flats and module are coming along nicely. Good to have an alternate project to work on when waiting for stuff to dry.

Lee- How cool to be immortalized in a comic book !

Morning guys great looking work!

I was able to get out to the train room yesterday morning and laid down some temp track to check the operation of my ac4400, it doesn't like tight curves with the fixed pilot. I had to take the Kadee coupler off and do a little modification and grind open the side of the coupler box to get more swing out of it. put it back on and tested it and it worked ok, but I think I need to do a little more.

Lee, Congrats on the build and comic book !

Paul, you sure know how to make things look ease! wonderful work!

Dave, the scrap yard looks great and is really pushing me more towards adding that second track next to the crane!

Brian, fun looking Photo!

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday and find time for your layout and trains!

I got my trolley loop together and powered up, fixed a power glitch, and worked on some details for the elevated stop. Next comes the parking area for the stop and some green space.

Interestingly enow, Balmer and Philly are two towns where the prototype streetcars ran on broad gauge tracks, just like O gauge tracks are in 1:48 scale...  ;-)

Vince, the trailer is intended to be the yard office for the crane.   I guess it needs Office signage!   Because of your comment maybe a Vacancy/No Vacancy option might also work!

Cheers, Dave

I believe you, Dave. But it just seems like such a nice place to live.

It reminds me of when I worked in power substations and the company hired contract electricians.  Most buddied up in cheap motels, but one got permission to bring his camper trailer into the substation and stay there all week.

Happy Holidays folk!

Just poppin in just once to say hi for the holidays; no replies for a while again. Cell tower coverage changes left my house in a gap, so no net for a bit longer. This is more about what I've been doing since Aug., like finishing the new bottom level (above is not quite there)...

well, thats it.....

I can't load more than one pic, figures the attach. tool is "stuck"

There is  military paint job on a 2-4-2, and a battery operated O gauge but closer to S scale 0-6-0  loco bashed into a porter length 0-4-0, and a Kusan atomic reactor car and Army command caboose, then bashed rescue/exploratory submarine. I painted a police inflatable boat and outboard motor ($1 store toys /sm. toy soldier size) and a squad of about 5 officers for the lower level police station (they commandeered the firehouse office a few days ago)

(The building still reverts to a 2 story barn )

There is a "floating" middle level too; supported by a few 1/4 rods off the leg braces; but it has no  real scenery yet.

Wait until you can see the "train wash" poot forth it's frothy foam of cleanliness Mitch  .

Oh, some HO too. HO-3rail "Junior" track (Hornby?...Lionel OO? Ties look OO) And a cool Marx HO Rock Island switcher set. Free 😁

Morning all,

Sure has been a lot of good working going on with you all! I did nothing yesterday but work on the ceiling. But I wanted to pop in and check out all your great work.

Butch, Nice to see your still working on the trains, been way to long!

Brian, wonderful photos! Marci did a wonderful job on the tree! I am glad you had time to run some trains!

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday and finds time for there layout and trains!

Butch, I’m glad to hear from you.  You have been busy we see.  Your dilemma reminds me of my sister and brother-in-law who have a 345kv transmission line that runs across their farm.  Out in the sticks there was no cable and the phone company didn’t offer DSL.  Cellular coverage was poor, as were satellite dishes.  Finally the phone company offered DSL out of a new cabinet nearby, so they don’t have issues.

Brian, Marci and Izzy have been busy.  What have you done?  LOL. Kidding aside, all looks great!

Ray, That sounds excellent!!!  Do you have your own printer?  My only experience is reading Trainman2001’s ‘Continuing Saga...’ topic on the Forum.

Beardog49, It’s a great start!  That’s what it’s all about!

Me, The Christmas diorama will wait.  I’m exiled to the living room again because I had to get a manipulation under anesthesia at the hospital on my new knee. The scar tissue was growing too strong for PT to get the bending of my knee that the surgeon wanted.  So I’m a couch potato with a numb leg again.  Sorry Lew, the only photograph is an 8x10 glossy the surgeon gave my wife of my knee bent back almost double while I was out cold.  LOL

Mike, I heartily recommend the gantry crane in operation with a spur serving it. Perfect location where you can see it well to run it.

It adds a dimension to Operation on the PER. One trick I 've found is to pick scrap that take long enough to load to be entertaining but not take too much time (maybe boring ). Wouldn't want boring as Izzy will attest:

I use pieces of 1X1 steel tubing for scrap:

Mark, sorry to hear about that hiccup but they fixed it and you're on the mend. Sometimes couch potato is an eggcellent state-of-being.

Mark, I'm praying about your knee, but may I ask a personal question? How did it get injured?

Thank you Vincent!  All prayers are welcome!

I had a total knee replacement on November 5th.  It starting bothering me two years ago.  So I was referring to not building a Christmas Layout like most years.  I cleared the turnback loop on the new layout to put down a snow blanket and some Christmas ceramic buildings and accessories.  I’ll get back on that once I can go to the basement again.  LOL
