A few years ago MTH showed some prototype scale electro couplers. They looked great but nothing came of it. Anyone have info and what happened? Its time for something like those couplers if they can be retro-fitted. Think how easy it would be to double head steam engine. Don

Don…. I and a few others bring this up at the DCS meetings, Andy says we have to wait for more interest in this. Its way down on the list, Maybe we should all write them a letter, not just a phone call. unless enough of us call a few times.

I support the idea.
would be nice.
I suspect the development is still going on. Will ask at York. Having a few MTH engines with scale couplers, it should be interesting to see how an electronic scale coupler could be fitted to one of these engines. The GP35's rear truck is so close to the rear pilot that even filed-down 740 boxes don't really fit. Had to use 743's or take the engine apart to grind off the hi-rail coupler bosses from the truck (still considering that).
My 2 rail inner loop(see video) is a 5 engine MU with the 4th engine hosting a rear coupler extension 2 wire harness to the 5th engine which has a Mth floating truck with a mth remote coupler that i can command with my DCS remote. This is an all premier setup with scale couplers except #5 rear remote"claw".FYI all my scale premier diesels have the front and rear coupler electrical 2 pin unused connecters buried in the PS3 boards. Some day i will redo the video to show the operation.
