Afternoon Everyone and a Happy New Year. I was looking at the latest issue of Classic Toy Trains (Feb 2012 issue) and on page 19 in the lower photo is a train that is lite green in color and looks to be some type of MOW train and also looks to be self powered. The caption states that it is on Terry Johnson's O gauge layout.

Can you guys please tell me what type of train this is and who made or makes it? Is it still avilable and if so does anyone know where I might find it. I'm assuming this was probably a set of some sort.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I hope 2012 is a great year for eveyone.

Cheers,

You got it right Gerry. That's the MTH UP weed sprayer. Keep in mind J. Motts that the spray in that photo was Photoshopped in by me. The unit doesn't really spray anything but it has cool employee cab chatter when activated. I like to run unusual things once in a while.
Here is a link to one of my videos that shows the weed sprayer in action.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for the link and great video, I really liked it and your layout looks terrific. Was the track inspection car made my MTH also or is it from 3rd-Rail? I really like that also. I like to see odd ball stuff run every once in a while too, shoot I like to see anything run right now, wish I had a layout to run something on. Big Grin Maybe sometime this year I'll get something started. I'm going to try and pick up the weed spraying set.

Have a great day.
Thank you J!
The magazine photo you mentioned that showed my weed spraying set contained a misprint. I was not spraying pesticides to keep down the weeds, I would use that for pests, but I will keep using herbicides for my weeds. I am happy to report that no railfans were injured during that photo shoot!
I can't say the same for the video though Smile
The DC-3 Rail Inspection car in my video is by MTH also. The UP version is #20-2242-1 from 2000.
Good luck with your plans.
Terry
