When I was in my early teens I lived next to Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. THESE were the planes that I saw close up landing and taking off. I picked out this exact Hobby Master 1:72 die-cast version to hang above my layout. It is several feet higher and to the back to provide perspective against my 1:48 scale F-15. I have two blimps. three aircraft, this being my favorite, hanging over my layout. I am trying to be careful to pick exactly what I like and not crowd the skies. After all - the trains ARE the thing!!!

Bunch of ERTL Stearmans to celebrate the Stearman Fly in held in Galesburg each September. One of them has taken a bad turn and is trying to gun down Cary Grant in a corn field. Then it hits a fuel truck and blows up (haven't scenicked that part yet). Oh the humanity!
Yeah, John S, that looks pretty familiar. What's hanging over my layout are "things"
that I did not put there.
John S - pretty darn realistic!
I have some DC3`s to go over but untill then I`ve got a ballon
it is real he stands guard over the layout
Also keeps the kids and women away no doubt!

When my layout was out in the garage I had a Revell 1/48 B-17 hanging up that I had built for my dad (he was in the 9th AF in WW2).
It's still in the garage but I plan on hanging it up in the present layout room upstairs.
I have 8 WWI planes on a display shelf and 3 WWII planes in various stages of completion. Don't know if I'll hang them up or keep them on the display shelf. All are 1/48 scale.
