Hello everyone,

I asked my father what can I get you for your 80th Birthday, I thought he would say something like a shirt or a pair of pants. Instead he said my one wish is for you  to install command control in my original Lionel conventionally controlled engine. He also asked me to completely take it apart, rebuild it and also repaint and letter it. So I told him it would be my pleasure to do this for you. This was a lot of fun too do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well wasting no time, I completely took it apart and went to work on it. Here's some of the details.

Also a big thank you to Box car Bill

Installed ERR A/C commander and ERR Rail sounds

Installed LED headlight

Installed brand new brushes

Completely cleaned and lubed the motor

Installed newer tender trucks with pick up rollers

Added a 6 pin tether between engine and tender

Complete paint job on the engine and tender

FUTURE WORK

Add a rear LED tender light

Add a rear electro coupler

Letter the tender

Add clear coat

Hello everyone,

I thank you all so very much for your wonderful comments, I'm so honored to be a part of this forum, and have such great friends here.

As John Korling said, the conventional guys must be up in arms  and I did feel kind of funny to do this . But Being my dad is  80 years old now, I figured I should give him what he wants.

For you guys out there who are looking to adopt me, I'll go with the family who buys me the new VL Big boy . LOL Just kidding !!!!!!!!

Marty and Chris, I also enjoy threads like this.

Ben, yes and it has a little draw that holds hair pins. LOL

John S  that's just like my kids, they are as lazy as can be .

John, I'll post a video soon of a trip around my layout

I THANK YOU ALL for the Birthday wishes, I will pass them on too my father

Thanks very much,

Alex
