Visit the Red Lion club.  Friendly folks, they have an excellent layout, and they manage to switch a few things around each York.  Be sure to buy a few raffle tickets while you're there.  Assuming they follow their usual schedule, they will be open on Wednesday and Thursday evenings starting around 6.

Pay attention to the parking meters.

Eddie, I thought about that but there are no movies out now I want to see.

Marty, As an LCCA member I went to a couple of their meetings but never really fitted in.  The venue makes it hard to meet folks.

I like the idea of going to see the Red Lion Model Railroaders layout.  Its only 20 minutes from my motel, and I will but some raffle tickets.  Thanks for the recommendation.

When I attended York we always stayed in Lancaster a 35 drive to the East. You never run out of things to do over there. There is an abundance of restaurants, shopping malls, a farmers market and even a few theaters where you can see a musical or a play. The huge Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasberg 10 minutes off Rt 30 is great to visit and the Strasberg RR steam tourist train is also there but these are day activities.

lets see...

You could visit Hershey PA and buy some chocolate for the wife and kids. (This will ease the announcement of you bringing home lots of trains)!

There is Gettysburg and the nightly ghost tour

Lost of stuff to do in Strasburg listed above.

I enjoy talking to Dave Olson and Ryan Kunkle at the Smokey Bones LCCA get together - rib them about the mogul, and see when our camera observation cars are coming out.

Plenty of Hobby shops in the area to visit.

Go Bowling

Drink some Yuengling with fellow train guys!
