HL is probably bad. They are 1.5V bulbs and run of the Protosound board. You can trace wires to the PS board. One is HL, other is reverse light.
That is the coupler trigger wire, goes in the blue connector right above it. Check which pin has of the 2 remaining has continuity with the brown wire installed and put the loose brown wire in that hole. G
Hello GGG, Thanks so much for your help. What would be the part number on the light bulbs to order them from Midge at MTH??,or should I just tell her that I need the headlight bulbs for a Protosound GG-1??? When I first put the shell back on,I saw the headlight come on very brightly for about 10-15 seconds, then nothing.
I also need your advice about the black connector plastic piece that joins the cars together on a Premier Burlington Zephyr. I am missing the one that goes on the engine truck, which is connected to the engine by a plug.
I "m almost certain you would be familiar with the way the cars in this set plug in to each other, and what part I would need to join the cars together. There is no exploded diagram on the MTH site for me to identify the part number to see if MTH has it or not.I have photographs of the part I need on a separate post on this same forum.
It is a black plastic "insulator" that has a screw in the middle, and "slits" in the sides so it flexs when you place the coach car on it,and it 'seats" in a circular hole in the metal frame of the adjoining coach car.
I have attempted to fabricate one out of a piece of plastic I had sitting around, and it worked briefly, and then it went up inside the car, leaving the metal frame sitting on the metal truck. This could short out the already fragile 5 volt board, good thing I noticed it when the train was off the track!!!
I also need the Headlight lens for the #9900 Burlington Zephyr, which is different than the newer ones they have made.I will post a picture of the headlight lens that is present on the back of the train,It is the same part that is used on the back light,it is just turned upside down on the front, but is the same as the one on the back.
Once again thank you very much for your expert advice,I will e-mail you within a few days about some work I need done,to see if you are available to do the work at this time.
Please take a look at the part for the Zephyr,as there is NO Information or exploded diagram on the MTH website for this part either.
I expect that I may need to have you or another asking tech to obtain the part,I am willing to show my gratitude, and compensate you well to obtain the correct part for this fantastic looking engine. -kennyb
