Based on locomotives:

  1. Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe (there is no BNSF) Largest locomotive and road-specific rolling stock count. Also the most Steam.
  2. Chicago & Northwestern. Second largest locomotive and road-specific rolling stock count.
  3. A handful of UP's -- CNW/UP Heritage, MKT/UP Heritage, George H.W. Bush, and a pair of Geeps I got real cheap.
  4. A couple of SP's.

Engines:

Primarily Rio Grande and UP but I have a few others.

I plan on repainting most of them to Rio Grande.

As far as rolling stock, those mixed in Real Life so I try to have more western roads but I'll run anything that is close to Steam era.

I recently picked up a Flat with a pair of 56 Ford Ranchero's on it, I know it's too modern but I like the car.

My loco's are basically from one region, even if the time frame changes.

My engines are mainly Reading, WM, Conrail, NS, NS Reading Heritage, PRR.  I have a few outliers like a UP diesel and ACL Steamer.

So no, I don't concentrate on one road but I do usually stay to the same geographical area.

Unless of course it looks cool!

Outside of the exception of my father's AT&SF switcher.....I stick to the Union Pacific. It's a bit of a holdover from my boyhood HO days.

It is also a function of Economic Discipline. Otherwise, the hobby would bankrupt me!

Every once in a while I'm tempted by Chicago & Northwestern or Milwaukee Road but then the dollars start rolling through my mind and I reconsider.

I understand why there is motivation to limit road names for members who concentrate on a very limited number. But for me, there are just too many road names that I love, so I have made no attempt to place limitations on the number of road names on our layout. If the passenger train looks good, that is enough motivation for me.
