Recently I purchased a piece of rolling stock that was listed as K-Line TE4210 Box Car Diet Mt.Dew.

I've never seen a K-Line car with an SKU starting with TE.

Once I received the car, on the bottom of the box it says "Marketed by Train Express, Inc 4365 West 96th Street Indianapolis IN 46268". Nowhere on the box does it say K-Line.

However, when I took it out of the box, on the bottom of the floor of the box car it says "6400-2 K-Line Chapel Hill NC Made in China".

I want to inventory the car but not sure which company I should list as manufactured by.

NOTE:  DIRECT LINK TO EBAY WAS REMOVE PER OGR TERMS OF SERVICE POLICY.

Thanks!TE-4210

Trinity River Bottoms Boomer,

The owners of this forum have posted their feelings about copyrights, trademarks, logos, etc. after recently having some problems.  Safest approach to avoid problems with them is:

If it isn't yours (by ownership), don't post it or it will be removed.

If you want to show something you don't own, post a link to it somewhere else on the web or forget it.

Thank you for your comment.  I best take your advice and stay on your side of the fence.  This is a tricky subject and makes one wonder if it is proper to even put catalogs or part of them up for OGR members to view?  It appears in today's world that a person best consult a lawyer to review anything that appears to be harmless but might very well end up "Verboten" when placed on a forum like this one at OGR.

I have to comment the OGR staff for reviewing all the posts that find their way here.  It seems to be a 24/7 job.  Since we are currently in OGR territory, I will take liberty to ask all visitors who take part here to please consider subscribing to OGR and register to become a Supporting Member.  When I was asked by Alan to join the OGR Family, I could be compared to a hobo hitching a free ride on a fast moving freight.  I since have "purchased" my ticket and now feel as if I ride the cushions of the Pennsylvania Railroad's Broadway Limited!

Indeed, a ride on the OGR Express is travelling First Class, with service not found in many other places on Planet Earth today.  It is by far the best decision and investment I've made in 2020, bar none!

It was manufactured by K-line for Train Express.  I remember seeing the Pepsi themed sets and add-on car in their store.  I'm guessing they didn't sell that well as they were there for quite a while and they never did another similar special run.  I seem to remember talking about it with them and due to K-Line licensing agreement with Coke at the time, they couldn't advertise Pepsi items as K-Line; thus, the TE numbers and not K-Line numbers.

They did do a special run Atlas 36' foot reefer for Indianapolis Abattoir (8031-1), but I don't remember any other special runs.

CORRECTION - a search shows that Train Express also did a Frito Lay Snack express set as well (Pepsi owns Frito-Lay, so that makes sense with the Pepsi license agreement).

In addition to the good info from Retlaw, K-Line also made a Dr. Pepper train set with an S-2 switcher. I don't know who the set was made for, but it had a set number unlike their other starter sets numbers. It also had a transformer that said "Model" on it instead of the usual "K-Line." Nor did any of the train cars have the usual K-Line logo printed on the car body, but instead had a number "10-2-4" which was on the loco and all the cars.

Dr. Pepper is affiliated with Coke, but it's interesting with the odd set number, the transformer and also the face of the set box didn't have the K-Line logo on it, which any regular K-Line set had.
