My Lionel SP Alco PA A&B have chosen not to pay any attention to what I do on the remote. They run at their own pace and that can only be changed by using the BRAKE control. Its headlights can be turned on and off with AUX but any other commands are ignored. This is true even when running them seperately. This also applies to my Dash8. Its horn and bell work but no response to the red wheel. Anyone know what's happening?

What is your product number? Have you reprogrammed the engine?
Will have to look for part number. Reprogrammed engines several times.
You're saying two different engines do the same thing? I'd be thinking of the common element, the remote. Have you tried running these on a different layout and/or with a different remote?
Does the remote have new batteries? If battery power is low, some or all of the button commands will work but the red knob will not.

Yep! Everything checks out. Guess I'll just go back to the simple life and hook up my old reliable TMCC.
What are you running them with?
It's on Legacy base with a Lionel brick and TPC-400 on each of 2 loops on 16'x28' Atlas track layout. It started out fine but after several months has deteriorated for unknown reasons.
I can't imagine the TMCC base being better unless the Legacy system is having a problem.
