I have a layout utilizing   3 MTH Tiu(s)  with Lionel 180w Power Bricks.  Each TIU has 4 Bricks.

The Tiu's have separate power supplies and are current Versions with USB.

Everything in the system is current revision.

Added a Wifi unit  recently for testing purposes and realized that by using the  USB cable out of the Wifi unit

into    the TIU USB input   Powered the TIU.   No issues so far, but the wall wart for the WiFi unit does not look particularly robust.

The question is:   is there any real downside to having the WiFi unit powering The TIU thru the USB cable?

Thanks,

Buzz

Buzz,

Yes, there is. The USB connection doesn't power the DCS signal generators.

If you attempt to operate an engine on Fixed #1 or either of the Variable channels without power to either Fixed #1 or the Aux. Power port, you won't be able to do so.
