I have the opportunity to purchase a ps3 slave unit for an ABA set that would hopefully replace my older Ps2 slave unit that doesn't work. My question is: will the unit plug right in and work as it originally was supposed to, or is there a difference between the PS2 and PS3 slave boards? If it is incompatible, then I will pass on it.

Also, what is the 'right' price? I am wondering if it would be more cost effective to just upgrade my non-working ps2 slave unit to full ps2 to allow it to be used on its own or as an ABA set with the lashup option on DCS?

Thanks in advance!

Some confusion exists on slave boards.  George (GGG) gave you correct information.  The PS2 5 volt board and PS2 3 volt board shares the same slave board.  PS3 is a different world.

Tom, I see what you are thinking about.  I would go for the PS2 upgrade to your current slave unit.  Only you can run the numbers to achieve what you want to do.

Another scenario.  If thinking of upgrading to full PS capability, wait (patiently) for whatever MTH comes up with for a PS3 diesel upgrade kit.  Thus, you'd be upgrading to current technology.

In the mean time, send the broken slave to G for repair.  That circuit is fairly straightforward without expensive components so I'd think a repair would not break the bank.
