I recently acquired a Williams New Haven EP-5 A-A pair from the 1990s with a True-Sounds board in the dummy unit (Model EP200s). The various sound effects worked well for several days but then suddenly became softer and finally quit completely. The loco was just sitting in neutral at a moderate track voltage when these changes occurred. I checked the sound board and found no problems with the wiring and no burned components on the board. Is there anything else I could do to fix it, or did some component on the decades old board just fail? I see that new boards from various sources are quite costly, in the $70 - $120 range. I may just settle for the beautiful and functional, but silent engine. See attached photos.
