Winner 1010

I'm unsure if George Tebolt is still in business, but he does list the "Dummy" headlight that you need.  You have to log onto his website, and search the Prewar Parts list.  It is listed as #158 "dummy" headlight--$5.00.  This is the same dummy headlight that is used on the Winner 1010, and the #158 Prewar Electric loco.  Good luck.

Overlandflyer, That is not the “Winner” 1010 loco that he is talking about.  The 1010 is a Box style electric loco, with dummy headlight and a pantograph on the roof.  The dummy Headlight is the same one used on the 158 Electric loco.  

hey, you're right... the 0-4-0 is cataloged as (1015).
my electric is a 1030...

Gary, The Headlight seems to be a hard item to find, and Tebolt looks to be the only source.  I’m not sure if he is still open for business??  The 1015 & 1035 locos are the 0-4-0’s you posted.  Great little locos from Prewar.

I believe 1010 was the set number as well. This is a 1000 set with a 1010 loco but the basics are the same, a 1010 set might have had a 1018 observation car added. 

Got a bunch of Dorfan parts from George a month or so ago, so give him a try.

i put together a order for George and mailed it off. I checked and his web site was still up. Guess he’s semi retired now, just doing his bulk customers and snail mail orders from folks like me. Not doing emails as such anymore. Thank you for all the help!

The repro 158 dummy head lights are a bit different from the original. The repo has a shallow draw than the original, meaning that the head lite of the original is deeper, little longer. Both will work. Found this out on rebuilding a couple of 158 locos.

I have some reproduction lites and if you can not find anything email me (email is listed in my profile). Doe this loco take one or two headlines?

Would not be able ship anything out as I m working in NYC doing a Train show.

Glad that you got it, a lot of dealers do not have the dummy headlight. Checked my personal parts bin and I have about 10. Some originals and some remakes. Make sure you post a picture once you have it finished

Hi all, sorry for the delay!
I put my Winner train sets out for Christmas. Here’s my Winner 1010 box type locomotive with new dummy headlamp. Little bugger runs great and pulls a baggage car two Pullmans and a observation car with ease.

@Bill Clay  Is there supposed to be a picture or video?  If so I don't think it made the trip to the server.  Looking forward to seeing it!

Bill, I have the same problem on a 1010. Could be totally wrong but from what Ive seen on original pieces the headlight is brass colored and slightly smaller than repro 158 lamps? I been looking for several years but now with the pandemic have totally given up. Agree they are fun little locos and hard to find in good condition.

RonH had posted he had some original headlamps. Maybe he’d part with one for your 1010?

The dummy head lights that I have are for the 158 not the 1010. Do not think they are the same🤔

Is the headlight that you have original? The ones I have are silver maybe brass/nickel plated. I will take a photo tonight and put a magnet to it to see if it nickel plated brass or steel. I will post on Thursday.

The one I have is a repo I bought from George Tebolt. He listed it as a replacement for the 158.

Below is a picture of the dummy headlights that I use on my 158’s. The one on the left is new/old stock original and the one on the right is a repo. The new/old stock is nickel plated brass. The repro head light is magnetic so it is plated steel. Note that the draw (dept) of the original is deeper than the repro. This maybe because of the material used?
I have 3 old stock and two repros. If you would like, I could send you one of the old stack as I do not want to break up the pairs.

It does look like the 158 and the 1010 head lights are the same, just let me know if you want one of the old/new stock head lights?

I saw a interesting Winner locomotive on line recently. It was a Winner 1030 box type locomotive. Very similar to the Winner 1010 with the exception the 1030 has a operational headlamp built in as well as the dummy headlamp.
       Funny that the 1030 doesn’t appear in my Lionel prewar book. May have been for export?

I think this is an older cousin of the 1010.
