This set is starting to grow on me

I've really enjoyed reading John Schmid's book on Lionel promotional outfits and I like the idea of Lionel remaking some of these sets.

My question

Forgetting the "rib" issue for one minute---How do these new Alco's run/sound ???

Do most people seem happy with these "027 FA" remakes???

Thx in advance

I have the Orbitor and the Santa Fe Sets. They are both great! The Alco for the Orbitor had a rough running issue, but nothing a ball bearing and washer couldnt handle. Super smooth running, and the horn and bell are pretty decent. I think the Navy Set is going to be a quick seller. I have one on order along with the IC F3 Set. My shop has about 25 pre orders for the Navy set

Glad you enjoyed my book.  I'm also excited that Lionel is re-issuing some of the great promotional outfits that Lionel manufactured, especially outfits like the X-628.  This will expose a whole new generation of all the great things Lionel did in the '60's.

The one pictured in my book came from eBay.  The 6017-200 box in collectible condition is tough to obtain.

I included in the appendix of my book listings of items and the outfits they came in.  On page 836, I included all the ones with Sub Bases (i.e. the 910).

You should also check out the 12885-500 Lionel re-issued last year.  This is an extremely difficult outfit to find complete and boxed in collectible condition.

Thanks,

John Schmid
