If anyone is still looking for a hotel room in York, try the Days Inn. I just booked a room there last night for my in-laws as they are traveling with us this time.

Hey, you are not allowed to take pictures in the blue hall.
Must be a back story here that I'm not aware, Eddie.
There are always rooms available. Just depends on what you're willing to spend.
I'm going to guess Eddie means the avatar photo.
Man, that guy is twice my age and still is quick!

Is this a spelling test?

Busted!!
Eddie, you're the only one who has noticed that. When you get up to visit, you'll see the real photo in our train room. You're welcome to visit any time.
I'll see you at I-45 in the blue hall. have a safe trip. Ed
Wyndham Garden $120 per night. Call them for details (might be twin bed for all I know).
Heritage Hills lowered their price to $325 per night (still out of my range).
i remember I time if you didn't book before you left the last show, there was no way you were getting a room for the next show. Goes to show that attendance is down when all the hotels in York still have rooms.

There are a lot more hotels now, too. And with online booking, we no longer to call each one to look for a room.

Thanks for the heads-up. Already had a reservation there, but with the lower rates I was able to re-book and save $50 for the two nights I'll be there.
AARP rate was actually $130, but can be cancelled at no cost up to 6pm on arrival date.
When I checked yesterday, there were quite a few rooms available, reasonably close to the fairgrounds. Included were 2 of the "low cost" ones, both of which I have stayed at ( Super8 and Rodeway, under $100./night). I do not have plans to stay over, since my train buying days are pretty much behind me.

Beware the Super 8. I've stayed there several times, and it has become more rundown and sketchy with each passing year. The place isn't particularly clean, and I have worried about the safety of my car in the parking lot. Never had an issue, but it would be a last resort for me.
Out of curiosity, I checked the reviews for Super 8 York. It sounds like my description of "rundown and sketchy" is very charitable.
Wyndham is $149. a night.
Rates vary daily, sometimes hourly. I'd check again to be sure of best price.
And Gary, I can think of six new hotels that have sprung up in recent years. That's a few hundred rooms at least.
I've found that the best rates are sometimes gotten from the chain itself, rather than through a "Priceline" type outfit. This is especially true if you are a senior (old fart) like I am.

Many folks use their favorite chain's loyalty program - good rates, points for future stays, and easy to change/cancel.

As of 6pm today, Wyndham still $130/night with AARP discount. Gonna be more for the 3 or 4 forumites who aren't over 50.
Stay there and hobnob with the train cognoscenti.
Sometimes I get real good deals on hotels being a veteran, AAA member & AARP member. I always make my reservations directly with the hotel.
