Here are a few scenes from Patsburg and the Free State Junction Railway!
I like the texture of scenes. I think elevation is also important too.

I went through a lot of my junk boxes for these parts. Some of the car parts were cut off of cheap die cast cars and trucks that were broken with my bandsaw. When rusted, they make great stuff for a junk pile. I built this as a module in my workshop on 1/4" Masonite then backed it up with plywood and two-by-fours.
This is what it looked like before my transformation.

very cool..........
Oh, nice photos guys. Let's keep this going so it doesn't drop out. I've about run out of ideas, myself.
Legendary Navajo police Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn and Officer Jim Chee have just located Mrs. Begay's stolen cow and calf when they come upon another cow and calf . . .

Nice blinds!
Here's a small but appropriate for our area scene that's pretty easy to do. I took an SUV with a roof rack and tied the jumping deer from Woodland Scenics A2738. He fit perfectly on the roof without any bending. I then found the two prison guards in my "spare figures" box from the A2725 O scale Chain Gang set that Woodland Scenics has"retired". I repainted them with hunting clothes. (I thought of doing some "camo" but I didn't want to take the time. LOL.) The figures can still be found on the web by doing a Google search. You can repaint the prisoners and use them around a construction site.
Here's another addition this year. The house is new, it replaced an MTH farmhouse that was put on because I had run out of time and needed something fast a bunch of years ago. Replacing the house with one of my own has been on my "to-do" list ever since. Well, as you would know, when I got the building done and was putting it on the layout, it was the week of reopening so I didn't have a lot of time to do any fancy landscaping. Kristi, my daughter, suggested I decal a couple of trucks for a friend's landscaping business and have the men starting the work. I had the decals already because I made my friend a custom pickup truck with his logo on the side for his 60th birthday. Of course, I had to do something with the trees they were delivering so I took some plaster and "balled" the trees. I painted the plaster to look like burlap and they are far enough away that I didn't have to get too fancy. Yes, the trees in the stake-body truck are all "balled" too. I didn't even think that you wouldn't be able to see them. LOL.

Now that is very cool. Creative, different. I LOVE it!

There was a killing in the alley behind Way Out Widgets. The detectives are gathering around a chalk line in the taped area. The crime wagon and coroner has arrived. So has the news truck and camera crew. The captain gives an interview while a suspect gets patted down on the hood of a squad car. An isolated cop sneaks a donut on the far side of the police truck.
Thank you for pulling this thread back into circulation. Your shots look so lifelike.

Thanks, TrainsRMe. It's been a pleasant thread for a good bit of time and is something I searched for to revive its unique kind of sharing of ideas that have been fully executed. This is an enjoyable place, to me. I've been getting photos ready for a while. I'm glad to read your appraisal of my work. Thanks again.

You've motivated me to share some more...
I don't often place lone figures standing by themselves, though, of course, we all know such moments happen in real life, and I have used figures that way upon occasion; rather, I prefer to craft figures in-place together, interacting, by having conversations, hanging-out together, or performing activities...
FrankM.
Frank, your scenes are so charming and believable! I especially like the old guy with his pipe and the wry humor of the chap having a ciggie right next to the No Smoking sign.
I'm sure that a truly fascinating conversation in taking place......

Looks great, Ron H. Great!

Agreed, especially the second one with the men huddled near their cars.
Here are two more:
"Do you suppose Mr. Smith approves of his wife always waving to the engineers?"
"Another day at the dusty junkyard." (It's 1957 on my layout; the term auto recycler wasn't in use yet.)
Here are two shots of my radome. It's not in it's final resting place. Inside the tube itself is a speaker for a nearby museum (it plays the theme song for James Bond).
Recent updates includes slow flashing red light, yellow handrails, and exterior lighting under the handrails...Terry

What kind of museum is it that requires a James Bond theme song? Also, how do I buy tickets for a museum that requires a James Bond theme song?!?! Really nice looking building!
Like this a lot.
If it is James Bond, how about push a button and the radome opens up to show the ICBM that is inside and aimed at London courtesy of SPECTRE.
You could have a countdown at the end of the song that fades out as you approach 0.
