(I did a search for DZ-1220 but nothing was found.)

I have been trying to set up the subject Z-Stuff Trolley Stop & Control System, but have been having problems.

I wired a loop like the one shown in the instructions, but eliminated one of the stops, so instead of three stops plus the end-point, I have two stops and the end-point.

After several (many) trials and tribulations, it ran as it was supposed to other than for the actual announcements – more about this later. It did stop at each ‘sensor-track segment’, made the announcement, and proceeded to the next stop. I was able to get it to run three such cycles this morning.

Then I turned it off and went to eat lunch, and when I returned, it wouldn’t work. What it does now is it cycles through several announcements without the trolley (subway car in my case) advancing. The announcements are spaced about a second or two apart.

The announcements have been messed up from the beginning, and I did not try to reprogram anything. I was not concerned about this because I was planning on programming my own announcements anyway, but it must at least cycle properly.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Alex

Sounds like a bad input connection from the sensor to the control.

Try disconnecting all the track sensors and activate  the inputs one at a time.

I think you need to ground the B terminal to trigger the stop. ( but check

the diagram anyway ) If it works, connect sensors one at a time, could be a bad sensor or a pinched wire....

Bruce..

Bruce,

The 'sensors' are just the cut or insulated outer rail of each designated track section. The DZ-1220 'senses' when the trolley or car wheels connect or jump the track power common (the other outer rail) with the cut rail, and all of these are fine. The wires from the cut rails are connected together to Mid-B, and each time the trolley advances to the next track section/sensor, it triggers the next station announcement, until the last one, which is designated as the end point of the loop. This last one is connected by itself to the controller East-B.

Jim,

I called Z-Stuff and left them a message. Hoepfully I will hear from them tomorrow.

Thx!

Alex

I use a little different setup. I'm doing a loop, I use a dwarf signal to start

the whole process, Trolley stops in front of the MTH station with disapearing

passengers.  so trolley stops, People disappear or re-appear, announcement is

made. Trolley goes on it's way.

Anyway this may sound obvious but have you tried a jumper wire at each block

to simulate the trolley ? I'm thinking dirty wheels.

I did the same thing on our club layout, but dirt is a big enemy, also the newer

trolleys with the light weight and traction tires don't help either..

I ended up using relay's with capacitors across the coils to eliminate the problem.

Oh while re-reading your post I ran into a bit of a quirk with my loop announcements.

when energized the first stop could not be the middle for some reason. It had to be

the E sensor. So when I start, I move the wire to E, after the first stop I move it to

mid and leave it there, Then the announcements rotate. I'm not sure why but it might

be something to try.

When working it's a great addition to any railroad.

Keep at it, it's worth the effort...

Bruce...

 Oh P.S.

My neighbor is from Missouri, and I am constantly reminded the the "I"

is supposed to sound like an "A"
