ZW whistle/direction control

I am in the process of refurbishing a postwar ZW. From what I can tell, lionel put some sort of grease on the contacts for the direction and whistle. I am cleaning the whole assembly and wanted to know what grease I should apply. I have found dielectric grease and I have also found conductive dielectric grease. Should I apply some grease to the cleaned assembly or leave it dry.
