Why does the OGR forum require two clicks to open a thread on my iPad, whereas every other forum requires a single click.  This is no big deal, but it is a nuisance.  I click the topic once and wait for it to open, and after awhile I remember it requires two clicks.

why is the OGR forum different?

I recall at one point in time, some computers allowed you to configure whether single-clicks or double-clicks were required to link off to another web page.  So perhaps IOS 6 has provided some type of parameter at the API/UI level to offer a similar option?  Just that the application developer may need to do this rather than the end user.  Don't know enough about the internals of this stuff anymore.

Something's also a bit different here in that it' not necessarily a double click, per se.  I can click once... Nothing.  Then I can wait a few seconds, click the link again... And voila, it works.   Not what I'd call a double-click when so much time elapses between clicks, if you know what I mean.

However, I will say that the OGR Forum is the only application I'm using these days where I'm encountering this issue.  Lot of other online web stores (applications) and Firefox web pages in general (Plain old web pages - not applications)... a single click gets me to where I want to be.

Go figure!

I just noticed that the navigation menus at the top which show the path to the thread (Forums / Tech Support Forums / Forum Tech Support / iPad on OGR Forum) are still single tap. Also the menu above the Recent Posts box (Add Reply, Follow, Report etc) responds to single tap as expected

This appears to be a mouseover issue

If you look at the boxes under the "Topics" header you can sort of see what is going on, the First tap draw focus to the box and turns it dark (same as mousing over it does with a PC based browser) then the second tap allow the link in the box to launch

So here is were it gets weird

For the subjects in the boxes under Topics it takes two clicks, one to activate the boxes highlighting and the second to launch the link. If you move from one box to another then the process starts again, once to highlight the box, the second to launch the link

However the Recent Posts sidebar box acts slightly different

There is no mouseover color change effect on this box but , there is a Wigdet Symbol that acts as a mouseover in the recent posts box.  It still takes two taps BUT you do not have to tap the same link twice. If you have Link A then tap on Link B, nothing will happen the first tap (link A), but the second link tapped (link B) will launch

So here is a difference with the sidebar, after the first tap when no page launches the  Widget symbol appears in the red  Recent Post title bar, once the Widget symbol appears. The mouseover sees the entire Recent Post sidebar, in the topics post it sees the individual subject boxes as one element

It appears the problem is in the mouseover code, could be related to how the IOS software handles the mouseover coding nad perhaps due to the fact there is no cursor on IOS to trigger the mouseover and the command doesn't mouseover until you touch the screen with the first tap

I checked this on Google Chrome for the iPad, same problem. Not sure its fixable unless there is an update code for mouseover, and is in part due to the fact there is no cursor on a tablet

The problem has to do with the "mouseover" parameter in Javascript. This forum uses Javascript...may the CTT forum does not.

I have encountered this problem on several other sites which I use for IFR flight planning, and all of them use the "mouseover" parameter in Javascript.

Hoopla knows about it, but it's not really a Hoopla problem.

It is an IOS 6 problem.
