snagged one this morning with an 8 pack of Pennsy hoppers.

Not to hi jack the thread, but I had a little trouble with online ordering a few days ago. Menards customer service, (as well as Mark), helped me through it with fantastic friendly service. I can't speak highly enough of purchasing through Menards. The 8 pack & the free truck will make great additions to our annual Trains in the Town Hall display.

Again, side note- if anyone has a spare military box truck like the one being given away, we could use it. We will repaint the both for matching trucks for our vegetable truck farm we once had in town, Ruetenik Gardens. http://images.ulib.csuohio.edu...ion/urbanfarm/id/657.

Hi Max,

Unfortunately mystery boxes are only available sporadically. We don't have any right now but I'm guessing we will have more in the upcoming weeks.

Max,

As Mark indicates, they are only available sporadically.  When they are available, they don't last long so it makes sense to jump on the opportunity quickly.  I've gotten three in past two years and have been very happy with the results.  I would check the web site often and hope for good luck.

Nice idea Bob! Are they easy to take apart? Do the cab inserts come out in one piece so a fella could easily paint the trucks a different color?

The box comes off with 2 screws, so that's simple, as far as the cab, it tilts forward, but I have never taken one apart.. Bob

take a look at the number of items, right now, when that changes, there may be the addition of the Mystery !!

but it is a sporadic event, and  might as well let you know there are others lurking around waiting for it to show up!!

   Gentlemen,

     I made up my own military red cross flat car with the Menard's Truck, and an old Lionel Flat Car.  Worked out great.
