Has anybody ever done a model of the Durham NC 11'8" underpass under the NS?  The "World's Toughest Bridge" would be perfect to model on small layouts.

Before this underpass on US77A near Cuero TX was bypassed, there were "telltales" before the bridge.  There was a sign which said:  IF YOU HIT THIS, YOU WILL HIT BRIDGE!

BritRail had asafety message about knowing overhead clearances.  It was showing a DD bus (about to go to the boneyard) make a turn, then get the upper deck cut off on a RR overpass.......

megabus (The "M" is small) cannot run DD Van Holl buses north of Houston on US 59 because of a low underpass on the old SP "Rabbit".

We have a bridge in Niagara Falls like that and a couple in Buffalo. Growing up we always saw accidents there. The Falls bridge is under the Grand Island bridge getting on the Robert Moses expressway towards downtown. It looks inviting as a direct route. They only marked it with a sign saying no commercial vehicles.

Bus drivers and truckers ignored or didn't see this sign and hit the bridge repeatedly coming around a tight turn taking them under the bridge they just exited. I always wondered why they wouldn't have a clearer sign saying low bridge or danger!! in bright yellow color or similar??

Many a truck top got peeled off there. The height was marked well on the sign.

In Madison Wi, just south of the University, the main road into campus passed under a very low RR bridge about a block from my dorm.  Every few months, in spite of warning signs and flashing lights, I could look out my window and see a bus or delivery truck stuck in the underpass.  They would let some air out of the tires and back it out.  It caused huge traffic tieups.  Fortunately the rr finally rebuilt it a few years ago and that no longer happens.
