With all the talk about the UP 4014 (Big Boy) and N&W 611 being returned to operation in the near future, it's still important to give shout outs to the more smaller steam locomotives that are currently being restored or in the final stages of a complete restoration. The Chicago and North Western Railway #1385 is one such example that's currently on track to operation for the Mid-Continent Railway Museum.

On February 15th and 16th, 2014, an open house was organized at SPEC Machine in Middleton where the running gear was being rebuilt. I was there on Saturday to cover the locomotive's current status, future, and how one can help contribute to the project. Hope you enjoy the video and have a good day.

Hope this helps out just in case the video can't be seen from your end. Working just fine on my laptop so I'm not sure what the problem is. If there are any questions/concerns, let me know as soon as possible.

Thank you very much and have a good day.

This is very encouraging. Poor old 1385 has been languishing since 1997. If you have not visited MidContinent Railway Museum, you are missing the finest collection of late 19th/early 20th century restored wooden passenger and freight equipment in the country (it's only near-equal is Strasburg). Drop 1385 into the mix, and you have a trip back to paradise. It completely captures the feel of mid-western branchline railroading.  Nice scenery along the line + Devils Lake State Park nearby, too.
