Thanks
Hi Keith, I just checked with a very reliable source and I was told approximately late next week some time.
Alex
That's good to know.
Thank you for the reply. That's great news! I need to get its spot ready.
Hi Keith,
I believe that mine should be here by tomorrow evening. I received my tracking info from Charles Ro last week and I figured out by my bank statement that it should be one of a few items that are on their way. I now see from the tracking info that the box is 22" x 7" x 6" and I should be getting a couple of box cars & a caboose also. Unless it's a box for someone else, which happened to me at the end of the year. It's in the state now but with FedEx I'll get it by tomorrow evening.
If it gets here I'll upload some photos of it.
Yes, it should work with any traditional or standard O engine, steam & diesel.
I'm really curious to hear feedback from those that get theirs. I realize that it was discussed at length on a previous thread but I just don't see how the nozzle will keep the fluid where it needs to be when I find myself needing to use a syringe on certain locos in order to ensure that fluid is getting directly into the batting and not running up and down the plastic internal funnel or anywhere else it shouldn't.

Great. I will look for your photos...thanks. I ordered mine from Legacy Station a year and a half ago.
For my layout, I made a smoke fluid storage and tank car loading facility to pair with this accessory. Been lazy about painting all the pieces. Hearing that these are shipping, I got motivated this evening and finally started painting them.
Good to hear they are finally being made. I cancelled my order for some of the same reasons Graz mentioned. Hopefully once they are out I will see I was wrong and pick one up.
I think they will be OK on steam engines but don't thing I would want to try a diesel with them
Update from Lionel. Said shipping schedule shows shipped last month - check back in a couple weeks for more definate information.
I'm sorry to report that the smoke fluid loader did not come. What I received instead was the 38922 SP SD40T-2 which I was not expecting. Because I had thought that the 2 box cars had been released a a while ago and the caboose had been out over a year ago.
Well I guess that the SP TankTrain set will be coming shortly. I like Lionel's old way for their shipping schedule then the new way. I image that I just need to stop looking at Lionel's shipping schedule. At least I'm not expecting much more from Lionel.
The shipping schedule shows January 13. Only after an item is shipped to dealers is it removed from the shipping schedule. So I am guessing it still has not shipped.

No I did not order the non-powered unit, I only ordered the powered to go with the set, to make it like first TankTrain set which I already have. And this was the first engine powered or dummy that I purchased to go with any set.

Sorry, but I do not trust their shipping schedule anymore. This engine I just received today is still listed on it. And the 39350 All Aboard box car is still being listed which I got way back in September. Also I have not seen any of the 5 Milk cars 29981, 29982, 29983, 29984, 29985 that were being listed for a couple of months from 10-15-12 to 12-16-12 on the schedule as coming out in Jan. 13 for sale by anyone. And I had also questioned Lionel about these cars back at York in Oct. and I was told that they were coming out in Jan.
Sorry IMO
Enjoy your new loaders, but personally, I will stick with my trusty eye-dropper.
Sorry your smoke accessory didn't arrive. Thanks anyway.
I received a package from Legacy Station, yesterday...no smoke fluid loader.
Oh well. Hopefully they will ship soon.
I will post as soon as I hear from Lionel
I got a little worried about this accessory, when you posted about the Lionel rotary coal tipple being canceled.
Lionel shipping schedule now shows September 2013 for the smoke fluid loader.
Neal Jeter
When September comes they will push it till Dec
I just looked up my paperwork on this. I put a deposit at my LHS in September 2011. This seems like an very long time to wait, even by Lionel's long lead times. How difficult can it be to make these? They must be hand carved or something. Fred
It can't be worst then the bascule bridge, that one is now pushed back to Nov. '13. I have had that one on pre-order since April '10. I also had a coal tipple on pre-order twice since it was first announced in April '09 and it is cancelled again.
I also have the smoke fluid loader on pre-order. I have never have had to put a deposit down on any pre-order. If you think the smoke fluid loader has taken a long time to come out. Then think again, the smoke fluid loader was showed by Lionel during one of their seminars at the October '10 York as a possible future item. I also remember seeing a model of the house under construction at York about a year before it was in a catalog and the model they had there was all red in color.
So we have to remember that the items in the catalogs were in the works well before we see them. I do not mind waiting for a item to come out, I just want to have something that is going to look and work correctly when I get it.
I see that this is no longer on the shipping schedule. It got taken off the update before last. Has anybody seen any? Or received theirs? Has it been cancelled?
Bill
I have never seen the one that I ordered and have never heard of anyone getting theirs so I would think it has been cancelled....quietly.
Bummer.
I thought about ordering one, then decided it would be more fun to make my own.
pump motor is in the big can and the fluid container is in the small can. I still need to do detailing, get railings and steps and paint the cans. here is my video of my
home maid smoke fluid loader.
Folks,
SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!

He will be at York in the orange hall. I bought the kit and will start retro fitting an auxiliary water tower soon.
boxcar,
Very nice job on your home-made smoke loader! That is pretty slick.
This product has ship.confirm with Trainworld and Lionel customer service. Last week of sept is the stock date
Thanks for the updated information. Much appreciated.
I'm glad I got the TAS one years ago. Still works great. Just put it near the front of the layout. It's not that easy to line up the smoke stack with spout.

Say what you want about a competing product or wahtever you want to use to fill your smoke into an engine, but the guy who designed this one for Lionel and for TAS is on top of "his ballgame". He knows what he is doing and probably can do it better than what some other companies design their products(even outside of the train world).
It's good news to hear that Lionel has finally produced a fine product as long as it was built to the initial specifications. Hopefully, the mad scientist will come out of his laboratory and post some comments and clear up any questions here.

Im not an electronics guy, but Ive been around long enough
to see anything that runs on electronics go haywire.
I can see someone filling the stack and it doesn't stop and you got
smoke fluid everwhere.
Before folks run off and condemn something they have not seen here is the original one designed by Ernie E. for TAS, its a great accessory!!!!Its his baby and design, Lionel's shed will be different looking.
shut the front door, that is sooo cool

Sounds almost prototypical
It's pretty tough to get a real locomotive lined up with a water tower spout as well. Took me a couple shots last time I did it
My 0-5-0 switcher has no problems getting them to align!
