Here's a 90-second tutorial on embedding videos here. It's easy!

Thanks Rich. I don't think I've done that yet, meaning posted from YouTube, but now I know. I appreciate it. 🙂
Also, what are the videos that have a blue border of sorts and are not YouTube? I'm guessing they are from phones. Do you have a video/instructions on those as well?
Jon, those videos with the blue border are videos uploaded directly from a member's computer, using the "Add Attachments" function.
Unfortunately YouTube doesn't give you the option to embed from an iPhone that I have found. Has anyone else discovered a way?

Another way to embed a video is by using the same method as shown in Rich's original post, but using the "copy link" button under the share tab on the original video, and pasting the link into the "general" tab in the insert/edit media button on the forum post. This method will work for mobile devices, and is the method I have always used to embed YouTube videos here.
What's the difference between embedding a YouTube video and inserting a YouTube video on the General tab?
What, me worry?
The Embed icon appears on my IPad.
This is using the Dolphin browser. What happens when you click on the "More..." icon?

Yup, been there done that, but it just puts in the link when embed is selected as you can see. 🤷♂️

I’m using firefox for a browser Rich, maybe that’s the problem. The You Tube is the native app though, but as you see in the screen shot, no embed option is available to carry over to OGR.
URL pasted into the General tab...
FULL Embed procedure...
Well...DUH. I guess there's no difference.
Here’s the screen of “more”. Another “more” is available but when selected, just Displays the same info in different format.

Whadaya know. Thanks.
I would have enjoy listening to your voice narrating this video.
Please share the steps you performed to embed it. Anything I have recorded using this device goes straight up, but not when transferring from the you tube app. Thx in advance for the help.

Who are you talking to? The steps to embed what?

What does "straight up" mean?
In all due respect Mr. Melvin. This thread has yielded me no Avenue to embed a video on my iPhone. Unless I’m really missing something, I’ve tried. As my memory serves me embedding a video use to be a couple clicks. Did something change on the forum? Maybe it’s the iPhone is not giving me an embedded option. Sorry
Kevin, I cannot imagine trying to do anything on this forum with a phone. I've tried with my iPhone, and I find that the screen is too small, the menus are too hard to get to and reading anything is just plain frustrating. The writers of the software for this forum have recognized that, which is why all the features available to people using a computer or a tablet aren't available to those using a phone. Evidently embedding a video is one of them. I don't know...I've never tried to do embed a video with a phone.
Embedding a video here is just a few clicks, if you are using a computer or a tablet. Nothing has changed there. The instructions in this thread are for those members using this forum on a PC, a MAC, a laptop, or a tablet.
Thanks. Well presented and useful.

I have tried to upload videos directly from my computer but have found that the limitation on file size restricts me to videos of just a few seconds. Am I doing something wrong, or is it an intentional limit? Otherwise I assume I would have to embed longer videos from Youtube.
100mb for directly uploaded videos, that really limits what you can upload. Use YouTube, it's easy and you can have unlimited size videos.
Wow. John, words fail me. Just amazing. Thanks.
With my cell phone camera, I go 45 seconds long ,for direct load to forum from my MacBook

The length of a video you can upload directly here is dependent on the amount of compression used on the video file. If you are uploading directly from your phone or camera without any additional editing or processing, the video is not compressed very much. If you run the video through a processor (there are hundreds available) you can choose a higher compression level and make the video file smaller.
However, as in everything, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. There is an inverse relationship between compression and quality. More compression equals less quality.
I would suggest you take GRJ’s advice and set up a YouTube channel. There are no size or time limits and your video will be seen by more people.
How do I post a video in the "PHOTOS/VIDEOS" section?
As a new member is there a waiting period before I can post?

No waiting period that I'm aware of. I recommend having a YouTube account, then you can just take the link for the video from YouTube and using the Insert Media button from the toolbar on the reply window, paste the link to the video.
You'll get a video inserted like the one below.

Ok I think I have to get a better camera and slow down the train.
Your camera is fine. Buy a tripod…a MOTION tripod, not a still camera tripod. There is a difference.

Thank you RoyBoy. Built about 14 years ago in my living room during the housing crunch. My brother in law was out of work living in my guest house. He and my wife, Lynn are the artist. I did the track and electronics.
This 9 year old video has three tracks operating. The drop center flat cars are cheep Lionel. My wife painted them and decaled CAT and sequencial numbering.

Eric: truly magnificent.
Rank tech amatuer here - I have difficulty getting videos that I take off of my iphone 13 to the computer using a chord directly to my iMac. As is, they won't upload to the forum nor even go out in emails for some reason. I must assume they are 'too large'? Are there instructions on how to offload videos to the Forum from our phones?
I've started trying to take much shorter clips in hopes of success to no avail.
Thanks
Glad I finally figured it out on a IPhone !
Nice.
