Are there plans, either in the works or already solidified, to have the York TCA meet open as usual this year, 2021? If so, where can I register for the meet?
Thank you.

Go to the TCA website. It all depends on Pennsylvania but for now looks like it’s on. It’s a 3 day event this meet only.
Latest info should be on the Eastern Division website. Remember, York is run by ED, not TCA.
Local news touting the first upcoming event at the York Fairgrounds since Covid closures. It’s a car show, but the fairgrounds themselves are due to open soon.

I got an email from TCA yesterday. This was one of the links.

Oh yeah! That is very good news to hear!!

That's a great sign! Thank you, Bob!
I didn't view the email as I had seen it on my phone. I'll have to read in more detail tomorrow, sort of doing other stuff before heading to bed.

As of now, Pennsylvania is planning to lift all restrictions (with the exception of masks) Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully that means they will not have any issues with the state.

I'm with you Don. I only get 10 days off with my new job, but I haven't taken any as of yet. Plan on doing a recover day before I see 611 at Strasburg, but still haven't even bought the tickets yet. I have to do that tonight or tomorrow.
Maybe I should make a hotel reservation.

Mark ... You can have mine.
I'm not going since I live in California and I just don't want the plane ride(s), hotel(s), rental car, etc., to deal with this year. For me, the hassle factor outweighs the pleasure factor during '21.
October (2021) York would be my 30th York. So, yes, I'll miss going.
RT, I totally understand your situation! There is no way I would want to travel via airplane and all that goes with it this year.

If Pennsylvania follows the newly-released CDC guidance, and unless the Eastern Division adopts more stringent requirements, it looks likely there will no longer be a mask requirement at the October York Meet, at least for those who have been fully vaccinated.
A return to normalcy would be terrific.

I've been saving my change since October 2019.......
York or Bust......October 2021......

Peter, you are not going to bring a piggy bank to York are you? I do realize some vendors like change, but not sure they will like that. Just kidding, good to see you are saving change. Me, well I'll just have to make sure I got money in the bank(still), which shouldn't be a problem. Just have to bring enough money.
For the information of old, incapacitated buzzards like me, does anyone know the phone number to reserve a handicapped, motorized scooter or chair?
Thank you.

I believe that information is in the registration packet.

Randy:
Try calling the Eastern Division Information Number - (814) 928-0196. I'm sure someone there can help.

Now if we can only work on getting those borders re-opened. My 9 year old son and I have made all the arrangements (again) including a trip up to Steamtown. I really hope that things are more back to normal and that we can fly down and join in the fun! Right now there is a 2 week mandatory quarantine if you come back into Canada from anywhere international so that would be a deal breaker for us. The Good news....I already have my first shot. Fingers crossed....stay strong everyone!

Randy, the company handling chairs and scooters at the Meet is D&R Mobility. The last phone number I had is 570-648-7418 Any updated info will be on the Meet booklet and the Eastern Division website.
When you call he will ask you to send the information he requests for the motorized chair or scooter along with the check for payment . Once you get to the Fairgrounds you can check in at the safety building next to the Brown Hall and give them your name and your reserved power vehicle will be ready. Below is the sample letter we sent. Hope this helps!

I looked yesterday to see if the Toy Train Museum was having the open house, but couldn't see if there was anything other than it being open the weekends and this week. Anyone know if it is going on or not?

For this meet, there won't be an open house at the museum. Instead, the activities have been moved to the Yellow Hall (under the grandstand). The Museum and the Library will be getting rid of excess inventory. There will be a Meet The President there as well, each day.
Make sure to stop in the Yellow Hall to see all that is going on there.

Thanks Stu, sort of thought there wouldn't be.
Sounds like there will be a lot going on in the yellow hall. My son and I have 4 member tables and it looks like the TCA Museum, OGR, and other commercial dealers will be in that hall. I've never been in there so we are hoping it will be a great meet.

OGR will be in the Orange Hall, as always. I will certainly be venturing over to the Yellow Hall though to see what is going on there
Good evening everyone! Got a question, what are the hours on Thursday through Friday? Thanks for the help, and happy railroading!

I was going to go, unfortunately, I got laid off due to COVID 19 and can't make it this year. Hope to see everyone next fall.
Here's a link to the meet notice. Finding it on ED's website was not intuitive, but a google search for 'TCA York meet notice' found it...
Well I just finished looking at the Orange Hall chart and frankly there is plenty there to keep me happy along with the member halls. It's a great weekend for trains! OGR's unmanned booth is circled. Don't forget to look for Allan Miller or Dave Minarik and get your picture taken with them for the "Wear are you." contest. If nothing else you can post them in the basement layout room to keep the pests out. LOL! Just kidding!
The week of the October 2021 York has finally arrived.
I posted early on how excited I was to go, primarily to meet in person all of you wonderful people.
Although I still want very much want to meet you all, I have decided not to go because of the Covid pandemic, and my inability up to now to get the Moderna booster
Hopefully, I will make it to York for the April show.
For all you who are going, I wish you good health, to take whatever precautions you believe you need to take to remain healthy, and to have a great time. Arnold
I understand Arnold. We all have to do what we think is best.
I had hoped to go, having gone twice before. I have two reasons for staying home. While I have made great progress recovering and rehabilitating after my lumbar fusion 5 months ago, I am not quite up to where I think I need to be to make for an enjoyable time there and the 5-hour travel each way. Secondly, I decided I should stay since my wife and I do a lot for her mother. You never know when she needs my help. My wife is retiring at the end of this month, and next spring York will be 11 months out from surgery, so hopefully it will be a good time for me to attend again.
As Arnold wrote, I hope everyone has a great time and is extra careful to stay safe from illness or accident. I'm hoping to see a lot of great comments and photographs from York from all who can attend!!!

Arnold, you were one of the people I was looking forward to running into (not literally!) but I understand your decision on not going. Just means I'll have to ping you and meet up at some point, I don't live ridiculously far away (northern NJ ). Sadly the white plains show is no more, would have been good place to link up.
I will be trying to take more pictures of the show itself and some video where allowed. I'll have to see if we have a topic for York pictures which I think usually there is. I'll also be popping those pictures in Weekend Photo Fun when that arrives. Any other pictures I do take, should wind up where applicable like OGR Quaker Steak and Lube photos. See everyone then.

You da man, Dave!! We will be looking forward to seeing your photographs and video!
One suggestion for nametags is to have your forum handle on the nametag as well, that allows folks that might not recognize your name to realize who you are. I've been doing this for a number of years.
Maybe this one will also quality for the OGR wearable contest.
Will Atlas be present in the Orange Hall, can't locate them on the hall chart ?
