I thought I posted photos of the Skookum at Niles Canyon Railroad, but can't seem to remember where or when! Back in October my son and I decided to go the Niles Canyon to ride the train as it was steam that Saturday. Here's some photos of the Skookum 2-4-4-2 compound and articulated steam locomotive from Oregon on loan to Niles. I was a beautiful SF Bay Area day, too!

Hello everyone, I took these in the late seventies at a crossing here in Grand Rapids, MI when a freight stopped for a moment. I used a small Kodak with Kodachrome film, those colors really did pop! I thought that these were so cool sitting there waiting to go into the yard in Wyoming, MI.

Kodachrome, gives us the nice bright colors, gives the green of summers...

It's been a while since I've had time to go out and time to post, but I made a little time during this weekend's lead-up to final exams to relax and catch an interesting move.

The Ashland Toy and Train shop sponsored a holiday excursion from its namesake Virginia city to Williamsburg and return last weekend and today. The trip, hosted in the private cars Lamberts Point (ex-NS, N&W) and Colonial Crafts (PRR) ran as a charter on the back of the daily Northeast Regional trains 65 and 66. Today's train was powered by 40th Anniversary Phase III heritage P42DC 145, back on the Peninsula after at least two months up north mostly hauling the Lakeshore Limited. 27A35228-9C81-4D74-9410-8957B7047A1A_1_201_a

Approaching Williamsburg Station, southbound. The conductor called "Arriving Santa's workshop, Colonial Williamsburg, HO HO HO!" which I imagine startled the CSX dispatcher.

In keeping with the NYS&W (Susquehanna) theme, here are a couple shots I grabbed with my iPhone over the past couple months…

Hi Folks,

Another shot from the CN yard in Sarnia this past summer. Fallen flag GTW 5849 GP38-2 on switching duty. Have not seen this loco in awhile…

Check out the Waupica Wi. camera on Virtual Railfan, occasionally a GT Geep switches the foundry across the tracks.

Elkhart is another favorite camera. Looks like the trackage has changed over the years.

The shop I work at closed early today because a third of the guys are sick and it's spreading fast.  But I get to wait for a truck to arrive that should have been here three hours ago.  How long does it take to drive from Kansas City to St.. Louis??  My consolation prize is taking this photo of the local heading back to Lindenwood yard.

Following on @biscuitag97's lead, this is also from Hoboken, although several years earlier:

C&O 614 Excursion arriving from Port Jervis, NY , I believe on EL rails; Sunday, June 15, 1997 (Father's Day):

Although I've taken quite a few photos on excursions over the years this lower one is my most favorite.  Little did I know when I snapped it that a few short years later the scene across the river behind C&O 614 would change so dramatically, and tragically.

Both have been posted previously, 3/5/2018, follow this thread:

Testing a Uniden Scanner - BC 125 AT - 500 Channels

Yesterday • December 27, 2021

My wife, “Train Room Pam” along with “Santa Claus” give me this scanner for Christmas. This is a quick overview.

{1} The Uniden Scanner & BingFu Antenna

{2} This scanner can be program by hand using the keypad on the scanner. I did a few channels this way but the process is too slow. A faster method is to use a PC computer, this will not work on a Mac. Use https://www.radioreference.com/ and https://www.bearcatwarehouse.com/ You must set up an account with Uniden / Bearcat. The scanner comes with a USB cable that is used to program the scanner & charging the 2300 mAh - (2AA) NiMH batteries.

{3} This is a roof mounted BingFu Antenna with a magnetic base.

{4} During the programing process a Alpha Tag is assigned to each channel. This is showing the Amtrak Police & Channel 160.3650
