I love the sound of the chuffing on what I bleive is the smaller engine. The lead has the same chuff as my 2-8-0. I like the smaller engine's sounds better
With steam locomotives, they call it "Doubleheading..."
MTH steamers with P-2 make double or even tripleheading easy.. This may sound stupid, Anyone know if prototypicaly, did railroads ever run the second steam engine backwards? Don't recall if I've ever seen it. Joe
Yes, sometimes a steam helper engine might run backwards; I've occasionally seen old photos of that. It was not the preferred practice but it wasn't always convenient to turn the engines, especially on a short helper district.
