Here’s a video of my 3rd Rail Pennsylvania E-6s, now converted to Blunami. The 25 year old model came originally equipped with QSI.

I initially planned to outsource the project as I have very little upgrade / electronics experience. With Pete’s encouragement, I took the plunge and tried it myself.

I kept the install pretty simple—no smoke or electrocoupler (for now)—but I did wire the marker and class lights to dedicated FX outputs.

There’s still fine-tuning to do, but I’m really happy so far with the sound and BEMF speed control. The video shows a few sound effects, like the fireman shoveling sounds, “All aboard” and the adjustable brake squeal.

Thanks to everyone who has posted about their 3 rail Blunami installs and experiences. All the content was extremely useful as I undertook this project.

Nice!  There were many accurate and attractive locos made during the PS1 and immediate predecessor era.  Blunami is a very cost-effective path to modernization when the motor is medium or smaller.  You don't have the smoke/chuff coordination that's possible with more expensive solutions, but how many observers will really notice?
